Turtle Cake

1 box German Chocolate cake mix
14 oz. bag caramels
1/2 c. evaporated milk
2 c. nuts
3/4 c. butter, melted
1 c. chocolate chips
Prepare cake using package directions. Pour half the batter into a greased 9-by-13-inch cake pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.
Melt caramels with butter and milk in saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly. Pour melted caramels over baked cake, then add remaining batter over the filling.
Sprinkle with nuts and chips.
Bake 30 minutes more.
