Phyllis Gale Sparks
Phyllis Gale Sparks, passed away at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Grand Junction on Sunday, May 18, 2008. She was sixty-two years of age.
On June 28, 1945, Phyllis was born the daughter of Phillip and Beatrice (Counts) Anderson in Sacramento, New Mexico. She graduated from Delta High School in 1962. She resided in Lovington, New Mexico for nineteen years before moving back to the North Fork area four years ago.
Phyllis enjoyed sewing, camping, and fishing. Most importantly, she loved and cherished her family.
Phyllis is survived by her children, Clinton Smith and his wife Debbie and Kamron Harper and her husband Jimmy both of Paonia, CO; two brothers, Willie Counts and his wife Dianna of Lovington, NM and Jessy Tracy and his wife Hope of Cortez, CO; and two sisters, Bertie Marah and her husband Mike of Cedaredge, CO and Rita Wahe of Fort Sumner, NM. Phyllis is further survived by five grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents.
Tony Stimac
Tony Stimac passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 25th, 2008 at the home of Mike and Patty McMillan in Hotchkiss, Colorado. He was eighty-three years of age.
On April 15th, 1925, Anton P. Stimac was born the son of Peter and Veronica Stimac in Crested Butte, Colorado. On Dec 27th, 1947, Tony married the love of his life, Pearl Meredith in Gunnison, Colorado and to this union two children were born- Patricia (Patty) McMillan and Anthony (Tony) Stimac. Together Tony and Pearl celebrated sixty years of love and marriage.
Tony Stimac was a true inspiration to many. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a US marine in World War II, a coal miner of forty years, a father of two, and to anyone who truly knew him, a hero. He enjoyed camping, dancing, hunting, fishing and most of all spending time with family and friends. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and the many lives he touched in his life.
Those grateful to have shared in Tony’s life include his loving wife Pearl Stimac of Paonia, CO, two children and their spouses: Patty (Mike) McMillan of Hotchkiss and Tony (Margaret) Stimac of Berthoud. Three sisters and their husbands: Michele/Betty Stimac and Bill Roat, Ronnie (Willard) Ruggera, Kay (Bob) Robbins. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Arthur Lynn Beavers
Arthur Lynn Beavers, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, May 28, 2008, at the Delta County Memorial Hospital. He was sixty-five years of age.
Arthur Lynn Beavers was born on September 2, 1942 to Phil and Maxine (Cordray) Beavers in Canon City, Colorado. He spent his childhood in Paonia, and graduated High School there in 1960.
On March 23, 1979, Arthur married the love of his life, Helen Allen in Paonia, Colorado. The couple resided in the North Fork and owned and operated Beavers Construction Company in Hotchkiss. Helen and Art were blessed with nearly thirty years of love and marriage.
Arthur is survived by his beloved wife, Helen Beavers of Paonia, Colorado; a sister Janice of Kansas, his beloved Aunt Don Etta of Kansas of Kansas, a niece and nephew, numerous cousins in both Kansas and Colorado and a large circle of friends that he treasured.
Susie Barnette Barnes Cole
Susie Barnette Barnes Cole passed away on Memorial Day, May 26, 2008, at Valley Manor in Montrose, Colorado. She was ninety-four years of age.
Susie was born January 12, 1914 in Hopkinsville, Kentucky to Robert and Lillian Barnes, the sixth child of 14 children. She grew up and went to school in the Southern part of Illinois, near Herion.
On May 14, 1932 Susie married the love of her life, Cassius D. Cole, in Boulder, CO. He preceded her in death. She had been a resident of Delta, CO since 1990 coming from Naturita, CO.
Susie enjoyed crocheting rugs, arrowhead hunting, Collage of wood pictures, and being a member of the Southern Calvary Baptist Church of Delta. Her greatest enjoyment in life was her family.
Those grateful to have share in her life, her two daughters; Cassie Skelton of Montrose, CO and Carol Lanzl of Grand Junction, CO. Two sons; Kenneth Cole of Montrose, Co and Ivan Cole of Cedaredge. One sister; Pearl Castleberry of Collinsville, OK. Thirteen grandchildren, thirty-four great grandchildren, and seventeen great- great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death, her husband, daughter; Sue Garner, three grandsons; Matthew Cole, Ivan Lanzl and Christopher Cole.
Judith Rose Hatzenbuehler
Judith Rose Hatzenbuehler, died on Monday, June 2, 2008, at her residence in Olathe. She was sixty-seven years of age.
On July 29, 1940, Judith was born the daughter of John Korell and Molly George in Lincoln, Nebraska. She spent her childhood in Lincoln, and graduated from University High School.
On August 24, 1958, Judith married Robert H. Hatzenbuehler in Lincoln, Nebraska. They resided in Lincoln for several years before settling in Olathe, Colorado thirty-two years ago. Judith and Robert would have celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary this year.
Judith was employed with Stover’s Candies in Montrose for over twenty years. She also worked in a factory in Nebraska making battery chargers. She enjoyed traveling, driving around town, watching TV, and she loved movies. Judith also had the gift of remembering names, dates of births, anniversaries, and other special occasions. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and a good friend.
Judith is survived by her loving husband, Robert Hatzenbuehler of Olathe, CO; one son, Justin Hatzenbuehler and his wife Linda of Clifton, CO; and one sister, Arlene Delise and her husband John of Lincoln, NE. Judith is further survived by two grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Judith was preceded in death by her parents.
