Saratoga Festival of Trees scheduled for December 5

A great opportunity to find a one-of-a-kind festive holiday decoration for your home is coming up again in Saratoga when decorated trees, centerpieces, and other holiday décor will be on sale. In addition, gift baskets and other creative gifts will be also be available at the 6th Annual Festival of Trees Auction on Friday night, December 5, 2008 at the Platte Valley Community Center.

The festive event will begin at 6 p.m. with a cash bar and appetizers, prepared by local restaurants and caterers, followed by the live auction at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $15 or at the door for $20. RSVP to the Chamber at

(307) 326-8855 by December 1st.

The Saratoga/Platte Valley Chamber of Commerce is hosting the Festival in partnership with the Saratoga Historical & Cultural Association and the Platte Valley Community Center. Proceeds will benefit the Saratoga and Encampment Senior Centers, Saratoga Museum, and the Chamber.

As before, individuals, organizations, and businesses wishing to donate an item are encouraged to join the fun. Stacy Crimmins, Chamber Director, said, “Entries will be taken until Wednesday, December 3rd. We would like to have all the décor displayed for the enjoyment of others in the Community Center lobby prior to the Auction.”

Children are sure to enjoy seeing the decorated trees and other items, but on Saturday, December 6, the annual Christmas Parade, Winter Wonderland, and a visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus are likely to provide even more excitement for the youngsters. The Parade starts at 5:30 p.m. and goes through downtown Saratoga, ending at the Platte Valley Community Center, just in time for the Winter Wonderland sponsored by Valley Service Organization. There will be free chili, hot dogs, cocoa, and cookies for everyone as well the treats when visiting with Santa.

These annual events are a great kick-off to the holiday season for the entire upper North Platte Valley. Visitors are encouraged to come for the weekend to enjoy the holiday festivities as well as doing some snowmobiling and cross-country skiing.
