We had numerous entries in the Plains Edition Kids ‘N' Kritters Photo Contest and we appreciate the efforts that people put into their favorite photos.

There were 22 participants in the contest and while there are only three prize winners there were many photos which were worthy of consideration.

After careful deliberation from our panel of judges three photos gathered the most votes:

• 1st Place ($25 winner) - Tamara Hughbanks of Blair, Neb. Her photo (featured on the cover of this week's Fence Post) pictured her daughter, Jackie, feeding a neighbor's horses fresh grass.

• 2nd Place ($15 winner) - Ashley Spilinek of Elba, Neb. Her photo is of her steer, Big Baby Larry before the fair.

• 3rd Place ($10 winner) - Anna VanAnne of Dalton, Neb. Her photo is of several of her grandchildren checking cows at their farm this summer.

A special note of thanks to the other contest participants for sending their photos: Rod Mousel of Kenesaw, Arlys Cupp of Champion, Beverly Dyer of Crawford, Jake Nelson of Dalton, Nancy & Gary Fisher of Crawford, Peggy Fox of Ardmore, S.D., Pam & Jerry Blake of Broadwater, David Karlberg of Sumner, Shawnna Gardner of Lewellen, and Sherry Connot of Chapman.
