Marji (Marjorie) Ann Sinclair

Marji (Marjorie) Ann Sinclair, 57, of Loveland, Colo. passed away on October 7, 2009.

She was born March 30, 1952, in Denver, Colo., to Ivan Martin and Effie (Barclay) Webb.

Marji had lived in the Loveland community for 40 years. Graduating from Campion Adventist Academy in 1971. Marji and Robert Sinclair married that same year and she enjoyed being a homemaker for the remainder of her life. In recent years she worked for Jorgensen Veterinary Labs in Loveland.

Marji volunteered for 10 years with the Loveland Disabilities Commission and with the Campion Academy Alumni Association for 15+ years.

Those who knew Marji knew she was an artist in every sense of the word. She loved to write poetry and short stories. She played the piano and dulcimer. She loved to paint and make stained-glass artworks. In addition, she loved to spin yarn and knit and crochet gifts for family and friends. Marji didn't know a stranger. She had pen pals all over the world who she emailed weekly. One of Marji's greatest joys has been spending time enjoying her grandson and also her two dogs.

She is survived by: her husband of 38 years, Robert Sinclair of Loveland, Colo.; and daughter Laura Sinclair of Ft. Collins, Colo.; and a grandson Austin Reynolds of Berthoud, Colo.; her brother Jim (Erma) Webb of Orlando, Fla; her sister Donna Webb of Berthoud, Colo.; mother-in-law Rena Sinclair of Loveland, Colo.; sister-in-law Peggy (Bob) Derby of Grand Junction, Colo.; and sister-in-law Linda (Carl Kessel) Remmick of Windsor, Colo.; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her father-in-law Charles Sinclair.

Services were held on Tuesday, October 13, at the Campion Academy Seventh-day Adventist Church in Loveland, Colo.

Dorothy Maxine Thim

Dorothy Maxine Thim, 79, of Akron, Colo. passed away on October 13, 2009 at the Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, Colo.

She was the eldest of three children born to Alva H. and Dorothy (Houser) Crosier. She was born October 9, 1930 at her grandparent's home in Akron, Colo. She attended the first and second grade at a one-roomed school northeast of Akron called Sunshine. She graduated from grade school in 1944 and from high school with the class of 1948.

In April of 1946 she joined the Akron Methodist Church and maintained her membership until her death. On June 12, 1949 she was united in marriage to Glenn E. (Gene) Thim at the Methodist Chapel in Ft. Morgan, Colo. To this union were born four children, Gene Jr., Keith, Stephen and Rhonda. Her family was her first and foremost love. She enjoyed attending their school functions and spending as much time with them as she could.

She is survived by three sons; Gene Jr. and wife Cathy of Sterling, Colo., Keith and wife Gaylene of Greeley, Colo., Stephen of Akron, Colo., and one daughter Rhonda Smith and husband Bill of Akron, Colo.; six grandchildren, Alison Goodman and husband Kevan of Greeley, Colo., Rosalie Thim of Denver, Colo., Kara and Dylan Smith of Akron, Colo., Shannon Whitehead and husband Doug, and Eric Myotte and wife Janelle all of Yuma, Colo.; three great-granddaughters, Jolissa, Balen, and Averie; two great-grandsons, Kasen Gene and Kale; one brother, Ken Crosier and wife Vonnie of Centennial, Colo.; one sister, Marlene Strayer of Cheyenne, Wyo.; several nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Glen of 56 years.

Services were held on October 17, 2009 at the Otis Cemetery in Otis, Colo.

Memorials may be made to Akron FFA or Otis Volunteer Fire Department.

Glen L. McKay

Glen L. McKay, 75, of Brush, Colo., passed away October 17, 2009 at the Valley View Villa Nursing Home in Ft. Morgan, Colo.

He was born August 14, 1934 in Cheyenne, Wyo., to Oscar & Alice McKay. He graduated from Grover High School.

Glen moved to Morgan County in 1959. Prior to retirement he was a farmer/rancher. He also worked for Agri-Chem and Cargill.

On November 20, 1994 he married Elsie Clark in Brush, Colo. He was a member of the Grace Bible Church in Brush. His hobby was working with a scroll saw. He enjoyed watching outdoor sportman shows and animal shows on television.

He is survived by his wife, Elsie of Brush, Colo.; one daughter, Glenda Ramirez of Everett, Wash.; two step-children, Evelyn Clark and Richard Clark both of Fort Morgan, Colo.; four brothers, Delbert and Bob both of California, Merle of Nebraska and Jim of Greeley, Colo.; two sisters, Stella Roberts of Madison, Iowa and Wanita Wiebers of Greeley, Colo.; two grandsons, Mathew and Timothy; and two great-granddaughters, Kalia and Elliott.

He was preceded in death by his son Richard and his first wife, Evelyn and his parents.

Services were held October 21, 2009 in Brush, Colo.

Interment was in the Brush Memorial Cemetery.

Emmett “Fritz” E. MacKenzie Jr.

Emmett “Fritz” E. MacKenzie Jr., 79, of Greeley, Colo., passed away October 4, 2009.

He was born in Denver to Emmett E. and Virginia (Ruhling) MacKenzie. He graduated from Arvada High School in 1948. He married Mary E. McRee on June 23, 1950, in Idaho Springs, Colo. They have lived in Greeley since 1955. Emmett served in the United States Naval Reserve as a Navy Seabee and was honorably discharged on Jan. 19, 1955. He also served in the Colorado National Guard and received an honorable discharge as well. He worked as a farmer and hard rock miner, and owned a cabinet and woodworking business. Emmett was involved in many organizations, both as a leader and member. He was a three-time Master of the Georgetown Masonic Lodge No. 12; a two-time EHP of the Georgetown Royal Arch Chapter No. 4; Thrice Illustrious Master of the Tyrian Council No. 11; Commander of the Georgetown Commandery No. 4, also having served as a Grand Sentinel of the Grand Commandery of Colorado No. 4; Member of the Colorado Consistory No. 1 Scottish Rite; El Jebel Shrine Life Member; American Legion Post 18; and member of the Eastern Star. Emmett impacted many lives while actively working with the Boy Scouts of America for 30 years, in the roles of packmaster, Scoutmaster, and leader of a Sea Scouts Explorer Post. He received the Scoutmaster's Key Award and was an Eagle Scout himself. He was a sergeant with the Greeley Police Reserve for seven years and captain of the Western Hills Volunteer Fire Department for eight years. His family described him as a very genuine man.

Emmett was the proud grandfather of PFC Tyler MacKenzie, who was killed in combat in Iraq.

He is survived by his wife, Mary E. of Greeley, Colo.; sons, Charles and wife Elizabeth of Frederick, Colo., John and wife Helen of Kersey, Colo. and David and wife Julie of Evans, Colo.; brother, Bruce C. and wife Susan of Greeley, Colo.; and grandchildren, Jessica, Andrew and Nicole and husband Jay.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Donna; and his grandson, Tyler.

Services were held October 7, 2009 at the Alvarado Cemetery in Georgetown, Colo. Military honors were provided.

Richard W. “Dick” Keirnes

Richard W. “Dick” Keirnes, 82, of Greeley, Colo. passed away October 13, 2009 at NCMC in Greeley, Colo.

He was born in Greeley to Charles and Mabel Keirnes. He lived with his family on their farm north of Eaton. After graduation from Eaton High School in 1945, Dick joined the U.S. Navy and was accepted into the V-5 naval aviator flight training program. He attended Cornell University and Colorado A&M University as part of the V-5 program. After completing his flight training, Dick received his wings and a commission as an ensign.

On April 4, 1950, he married his high school sweetheart, Louise Holmes, in Eaton. Dick and Louise then returned to San Diego, where Dick was stationed with Fighter Squadron 53 until his honorable discharge in June of 1950.

After his service, Dick and Louise returned to farming near Eaton. They had three sons, Duncan, Doug, and Tom. In 1960 they moved to Greeley where Dick began his real estate career, receiving numerous awards for his work including Realtor of the Year. In 1985, Dick was elected as Weld County Assessor, and he served until 1990. He also spent many years sharing his financial knowledge and love for the Lord through Christian financial counseling. Dick retired in 1990, continuing his counseling services and other ventures as long as his health allowed. He relished his time with his grandchildren. His business ventures never kept him away from his main focus — his family. He attended many games and concerts and, with Louise, brought up three fine young men who exemplify his respect for those around him, love for the Lord, and the ability to put God and family as a first priority. Even the way he dealt with his extended illness is a testament to his faith and courage.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Louise; his sons, Duncan (Elinor) of Sioux Falls, S.D.; Doug (Sue) of Littleton, Colo. and Tom (Maureen) of Sammamish, Wash.; his grandchildren, Annie, Mathew, Cameron, Nicole, Blake and Linnea Keirnes; his sister, Annabelle (Dick) Rutherford of Fort Collins, Colo. and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mabel; and a brother, Lynn.

Services were held Oct. 17, 2009 at First Congregational Church of Eaton-Ault, Colo..

Betty L. Melton

Betty L. Melton, 74, of Granada, Colo. passed away August 18, 2009 at her home with her family by her side.

She was born to Otto E. and Ida Rebecca (Armour) Bezona on January 30, 1935 in rural Granada. She grew up on the family farm along with her nine siblings and graduated from Granada High School.

On March 4,1955 she married Jesse H. Melton at the Holly United Methodist Church. In their early years of marriage they lived around the Holly area and then moved to the Pueblo and Colorado Springs area. Later moving to North Denver in the Henderson/ Commerce City area where they resided for 35 years and then moving back down to Granada in 2003.

Betty was a loving wife and stay at home mom for several years before going to work at Honeywell in 1967 and later working for various banks. After a short semi-retirement, she went to work for Siegrist Companies in the scale office from 1992 to 1996 and from there went to Varra and worked in the scale office until retiring in 2002. She loved crocheting, reading, bingo and her family.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Jesse; her children, Dean Melton of Granada, Colo.; and Diantha (Steve) Dickinson of Fort Lupton, Colo.; five grandchildren, Johnny Melton of Pueblo, Colo.; Janeene (Sean) Brown of Scottsbluff, Neb.; Lacy (Joel) Waight of Thornton, Colo.; Stephani Dickinson (Ruth Guerrero) of Irving, Texas; and Samantha Dickinson (Niki Martinez) of Thornton, Colo.; four great-grandchildren, A'Leah Archuleta; Gabe Melton; Shea and Ryley Sylvis; five siblings, Lois Wieman of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Al Bezona of Pueblo, Colo.; Lola Brooks of Mo.; Pete (Jean) Bezona of Syracuse, Kan.; and Roy (Judy) Bezona of Walsh, Colo.; brother in-law, Gene (Peggy) Melton of Farisita, Colo.; and four sister-in-laws, Patt (Wes) Campbell of Holly, Colo.; Jeannie Bezona of Granada, Colo.; Mary Bezona of Pueblo, Colo.; Lois Bezona of Fresno, Calif.; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Becky Melton on September 19, 2004; nephew, Wesley Melton; four brothers, Dean Bezona, Paul Bezona, Dick Bezona and Scott Bezona.

Services were held on August 22, 2009 at Holly United Methodist Church.

Burial at the Holly Cemetery.
