Al Crews
Al Crews, 78, formally of Fruita, Colo., passed away October 25, 2009 at MiCasa Nursing Home in Mesa, Ariz. A long time businessman and local rancher, Al prided himself on his work and family.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann “Jo” Crews; daughter, Sandra Crews; sons, Gary Crews and Patrick Crews; sister, Eula Lee Reed; grandchildren, Nathan Crews, Tom Crews, Jenna Crews-Hoisington, Blake Piatt, Jonathon Crews, Justin Crews, and Garrett Crews; and great grandchildren, Cole Crews, and Kaci Crews.
A memorial service was held on October 27, 2009 at Melcher Mission Chapel in St. Mesa, Ariz.

George Eugene Gerry
George Eugene Gerry, 49, passed away on October 12, 2009, near Madden Creek in La Plata Canyon.He was born to Eugene and Doris Gerry in Collbran on June 25, 1960. He grew up and attended school in Durango.
He worked as an equipment operator for his father, who co-owned Gene's Backhoe Service, along with his brother, Tom Gerry. He also worked for many other businesses in La Plata County as an equipment operator.
“George was an excellent mechanic,” his family wrote, “always able to repair an engine for anyone at any given time.”
He enjoyed snowmobiling and off-roading in the La Plata Canyon area, where he lost his life while climbing. His family said George was a “fun-loving fellow” who loved his family and whose passion was his many nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his father, Eugene Gerry, of Why, Ariz.; sisters Barbara Weaver and Jill Creason, both of Ignacio, Colo.; brother, Tom Gerry, of Trinidad, Colo.; numerous nieces and nephews; and three great-nieces.
