Draft horse show scheduled Jan. 15-17 in Loveland



LOVELAND — The 7th annual Big Thunder Draft Horse show has been scheduled Jan. 15-17 at the Ranch-Way Indoor Arena at The Ranch in Loveland.

The event is expected to draw competitors from around northern Colorado as well as other states and as far away as Canada. Tickets are $12, $6 for children and are available at the Budweiser Event Center box office or at the day of the event. Three-day passes at $30 are also available.

Show times will be 7 p.m. Jan. 15, 2 p.m. Jan. 16-17. Three-day passes at $30 are also available. Seniors, aged 65 and older, are invited to Senior Night, 7 p.m. Jan. 15. An $8 senior ticket is offered for this special evening only.

Competitors are expected to enter Clydesdales, Belgians, Shires and Percherons, to compete in front of a world class judge and accrue points in the North American Six Horse Hitch Classic Series.

Draft Horse University starts at noon Jan. 16. Participants will learn about the equipment, judging, driving the horses from experienced hitch drivers, and size a horse shoe to a real draft horse. The $7 children's ticket and $15 adult's ticket includes the Draft Horse University exposition, and admission to Saturday afternoon's draft horse performance.
