Barbara Anna Williams
Barbara “Barb” Anna Williams, 79, of Grand Junction, Colo., passed away August 9, 2012.
She was born in Delta, Colo., on November 17, 1932, to Howard and Louise Graybeal. She graduated from Delta High School and received an Associate’s Degree in Business from Blair Business College.
Barb was an accountant and property manager. She lived in Colorado her entire life.
She received President George Bush’s Volunteer award twice in her lifetime. She was a member of Koinonia Church group and minister of Stephen Ministry. She was a long time volunteer for the Senior Resource Line for Kaiser Permanente. Barb was a member of Covenant Presbyterian of Grand Junction, Colo. She was very involved with church activities. She enjoyed horse back riding when she was younger. Barbara was a loving and caring mother who will be missed dearly.
She is survived by her children, Earl (Ivy) Williams of Grand Junction, Colo., and Elizabeth (Chris) Williams Kimball; grandchildren, Oren Williams of California; Contessa McCurry of Oregon; Glenn Kimball of California, and Rachel Kimball of California; great-grandchildren, Ollie, Gibson, and Hensley; siblings, Warren Graybeal and Emily Graybeal Latimer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen E. Williams, parents and grandparents.
Memorial services were held August 16, 2012 at Covenant Presbyterian Church.
Her final resting place will be on the Grand Mesa.

Alvah J. “Jim” Shaw
Alvah J. “Jim” Shaw, 84, Grand Junction, Colo., passed away August 9, 2012 at St. Mary’s Hospital.
He was born May 29, 1928, in Meeker, Colo. He relocated with his parents, Rhondal and Irene Shaw and younger brother, Larry Shaw, to the Grand Junction, Colo., area and, later to Collbran, Colo., where he entered high school. In his senior year, Jim contracted Polio and spent several months recuperating in a Denver Hospital. He returned to Collbran, Colo., to work on his fathers ranch and finish his education, graduating from Collbran High School.
He worked at Hoffman Motors as a Parts Manager. He later continued his career with Ford dealerships and also worked for several petroleum companies in Colorado.
Jim was an avid outdoorsman; he loved fishing, hunting, camping, and basketball. He especially enjoyed the Colorado Mountains and driving his family and friends to see the beautiful scenery. He loved to watch the Bronco football games with his family. His love for the Lord was always in his life even as a small child. He was baptized at the age of 17, and was ordained as a minister and continued his ministry at the Church of Christ until his death.
Jim met the love of his life, Vieva Deniston, in 1945. He called her his “little woman.” They were married in 1949, and shared many beautiful memories in there years together.
He is survived by his loving wife, Vieva; two daughters, Verda Malone of Grand Junction, Colo., and Rita O’Dell (Joe) of Fruita, Colo.; two sons, Randall (Debbie) Shaw of Grand Junction, Colo., and Ken Shaw of Phoenix, Ariz.; brother, Larry Shaw of Springfield, Mo.; 12 grandchildren, Jeff Karlin, Michael Malone, Lieghann Kinney, John Grant, Jamison Grant, Sheila Peters, Tona Ogden, Randall Shaw (JR), Amber Shaw, Stefanie Mancini, Tonya Bell, Robert Gibson (R.J.); 26 great-grandchildren; numerous nephews and nieces; and many other family and friends that he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rhondal and Irene Shaw, and daughter, Joye Shaw Karlin.
Memorial services were held August 17, 2012 at the Church of Christ in Orchard Mesa, Colo.

Donald Wayne Ross
“Wayne” Ross, 76, of Delta, Colo., passed away August 12, 2012 at the Delta County Memorial Hospital.
He was born to Robert D. and Arby (Merle) Ross on June 23, 1936 at Foil, Mo.
Wayne enjoyed hunting, fishing, and horses. But more importantly he enjoyed his family and friends the most.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Ross of Delta, Colo.; sons, Chuck Ross and his wife Sharon and Robert Ross and his wife Wendy, all of Whitewater, Colo.; daughter, Teresa of Clearwater, Fla.; step-children, Tanya, Joe and Justin Davenport; his brother, Dale Ross of Missouri; grandchildren, Jordyn Scales, Matthew Ross and Eric and Tiffany Abeyta of Clearwater, Fla.; step-grandchildren, Ashton, Payton and Colton; great grandchildren, Zander, Moe, and Logan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Arby Ross; his first wife, Mary Ross and his brother, J.B. Ross.

Robert William Bershenyi
Robert William Bershenyi, 93, of Grand Junction, Colo., passed away August 7, 2012, at Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Western Colorado.
He was a resident and rancher in the Glenwood Springs, Colo., area for 71 years before retiring to Grand Junction, Colo., in 1990.
Robert served in the U.S. Army in World War II from 1941 to 1945, being stationed in North Africa, Sicily and Italy. He married Marcia Stephens on May 29, 1951, in Glenwood Springs, Colo.
Robert enjoyed cattle ranching, hunting, watching sports, and was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Marcia; son, Alan of Grand Junction, Colo.; daughter, Karen of Broomfield, Colo.; sister-in-law, Ella Stephens of Grand Junction, Colo.; nephews, Stephen (10) Bershenyi of Glenwood Springs, Colo., and Mark (Amy) Bershenyi of Centennial, Colo.; and nieces, Maritza (Wally) Sneddon of Longmont, Colo., Julia Bershenyi of Golden, Colo., and Christine (Kirk) Pokrandt of Denver, Colo.
Memorial services were held August 13, 2012 at St. Stephens Catholic Church in Glenwood Springs, Colo.
Burial was at Rosebud Cemetery.
