The “Torrington Youth Series (TYS) 2012” rodeo crowned series champions July 31 at the Goshen Pavilion in Torrington. The finale rodeo was held during the Goshen County Fair.
Produced by Jake and Kerin Clark, of Torrington, the TYS rodeos offered area youth ages 5-14 the opportunity to compete in various rodeo events. Throughout the series the numbers saw as many as 72 contestants per rodeo.
In its third year, the TYS rodeos included eight weeknight events that began May 23 and concluded July 31. Buckles were awarded to series event champions in each age division. Prizes were given to the reserve champions and in the 5-7 age division the third place finishers received a prize. Contestants must have competed at six of the eight rodeos to qualify for the series awards.
“It is exciting to watch the young contestants grow each week in their rodeo events,” Jake and Kerin Clark said. “The atmosphere is filled each week with a great spirit of sportsmanship and friendly competition.”
“We appreciate the support of the local community, area businesses and rodeo families,” the Clarks said. “The youth rodeo series is very rewarding to produce and we look forward to the 2013 series.”
