Junior Livestock Sale raises record numbers at 2014 Larimer County Fair

The Junior Livestock Sale rounded out the Larimer County Fair on Wednesday, Aug. 6 at The Ranch-Way Feeds Indoor Arena in Loveland, Colo. Over 200 4-H Members, ages 8-19 years old, participated in this year’s record Junior Livestock Sale to end the 2014 Fair on a high note.

The 2014 Junior Livestock Sale tallied up a record total amount of $456,850 with 213 animals sold. The funds raised support the maintaining of the animals and contribute to 4-H youths’ future college funds.

The highlight of the evening was the Grand Champion Beef Steer sold by Delaynie Greiman for a record amount of $20,000 and was purchased by Pelican Restaurants at Water Valley.

Chicken – Sold by Brody Lamb - $1800, purchased by Jim’s Wings

Champion Duck – Sold by Matthew Sinclair - $1400, purchased by Apollo

Champion Geese – Sold by Cara Conlon - $1200, purchased by Cultura Technologies

Champion Turkey – Sold by Dawson Whittaker - $2000, purchased by All Weather Wood

Champion Rabbit Meat Pen – Sold by Sydney Baty - $2200, purchased by 4 Rivers Equipment

Champion Sheep – Sold by Alie McEndaffer - $6,000, purchased by Lookout Ridge Farm

Champion Goat – Sold by Chelsea Dobbs - $6,000, purchased by Anadarko Petroleum Corp

“A record breaking sale would never be possible with out the generosity this year from both buyers and sponsors. Their commitments to supporting 4-H Youth and Agriculture are exceptional; with out them the sale would have never been the success that it was,” said Jim Dunn, Chair of the Junior Livestock Committee.

The 2014 Larimer County Fair, presented by Colorado Lottery, ran from August 1-5 at The Ranch Events Complex in Loveland.
