William E. “Bill” Meyers
William E. “Bill” Meyers, 77, of Cedaredge, Colo., passed away May 8, 2014.
William Ernest Meyers was born on February 27, 1937, to William Robert and Bernice Elaine (Kartunavich) in Cleveland, Ohio.
He spent his childhood in Cleveland and Solan, Ohio. He attended Mesa State College and received his Associates degree in auto body and repair.
On September 23, 1961, Bill married the love of his life, Yvonne Ann Wilke in Montebello, Calif. Together, they have resided in Cedaredge Colo., since 1970 moving from Whittier, Calif.
Bill had several jobs throughout his life that he was very proud of, including serving in the Army National Guard; working for Rocketdyne; as a longshoreman; and a long career as an electrician and motorman for US Steel in Somerset, Colo. He retired from the Colorado State University Research Center and devoted his energy toward ranching and spending time with his family.
Bill was a member of St. Philip’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus; IOOF, Hotchkiss Elk’s Lodge No. 1807, UMWA and Montrose Amateur Radio Club.
Bill loved music and was an excellent singer and musician. His instrument of choice was a guitar, although he could play just about anything. He enjoyed falconry, horses, collecting rocks and antiques, ghost towns, and his motorcycle. More importantly, Bill loved his church and spending time with his family and grandchildren. One of his favorite pastimes was sitting around the kitchen table and playing games with his family.
Bill is survived by his wife, Yvonne Meyers of Cedaredge, Colo.; three sons: Bill Meyers and spouse, Sherri of Del City, Okla.; Ron Meyers and spouse, Roberta of Grand Junction, Colo.; and Jack Meyers and spouse, Cheryl of Cedaredge, Colo.; five daughters: Karen Crespin and spouse, Abram of Clifton, Colo.; Debbie Frazier and spouse, Kevin of Vancouver, Wash.; Patti Buddecke and spouse, Tony of Las Vegas, Nev.; Tami Sandoval and spouse, Brian of Delta, Colo., and Theresa Toothaker and spouse, Jason of Cedaredge, Colo.; eighteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and a sister.
Mass of the Resurrection was held May 14, 2014, at St. Philip’s Catholic Church n Cedaredge, Colo.

Helen R. Talbott
Helen R. Talbott, 76, of Montrose, Colo., passed away May 9, 2014.
The child of Ralph and Naomi Cowan, she was born in Boise, Idaho, and lived in several locations throughout her childhood. But Western Colorado was her home. Some of her fondest childhood memories stem from her time living with her grandparents near Telluride in Ames, Colo., where her grandfather operated the Ames Power Plant, the world's first commercial alternating-current power plant.
She married D. Eugene Talbott in Castle Rock, Colo., in 1959. They shared a lifelong love of the outdoors and togetherness. With her at his side, he passed away suddenly in 2001.
She was a devoted mother, loving wife, cherished friend and consummate grower of African violets. She worked as a bookkeeper and accountant, including at Connors Drilling in Montrose and Delta-Montrose Electric Association.
She is survived by son Clinton Talbott, daughter-in-law Melinda Marquis, and brothers Orion Cowan and Marvin Cowan.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, “Gene,” her daughter, LaRena, and her baby boy.
A graveside remembrance was held May 16, 2014, at Grandview Cemetery in Montrose, Colo. ❖
