Jeffrey W. Peters
Jeffrey W. Peters, 36, of Lincoln, Neb., passed away June 10, 2014.
He was born May 11, 1978, in Franklin, Neb.
He attended Cody Elementary and graduated from North Platte High School in 1996. After high school, he was employed in North Platte at local restaurants before relocating to Omaha, Neb., where he worked 10 years in the deli for Hy-Vee grocery.
Jeff was a member of the North Platte First United Methodist Church, Cub Scouts and the Boy Scouts of America, and played tenor saxophone in the NPHS JV band. He was a photographer in Western Nebraska Models and Photographers group. During Nebraskaland Days, he enjoyed entering the Hog Calling contest and won 2nd place one year. He enjoyed people, music, fishing, photography and family gatherings, especially with his nephews, Nathan and Brody. He enjoyed good food and sitting around backyard fire pits with his brother, Greg, family and friends. Jeff could bring a smile to anyone’s face with his sense of humor and his positive attitude. His childhood illness helped him to become strong-willed and a survivor.
Survivors include his parents, Gary (Susan) Peters of North Platte, Neb., and Kay Peters of Omaha, Neb.; brother, Greg (Tara) Peters of Omaha, Neb.; two nephews, Nathan and Brody Peters of Omaha, Neb.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Ruth Bower, Dale and June Peters; and his cousin, Zachery Peters.
Services were held June 20, 2014, at the First United Methodist Church. The family has chosen cremation. Inurnment was at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens.
A memorial has been established in his memory.

Helga Mae Freeze
Helga Mae Freeze, 97, of North Platte, Neb., passed away June 15, 2014.
Helga was born on January 18, 1917, in Hershey, Neb., to Oscar and Minnie (Palmer) Fransen.
She grew up in Hershey and graduated as Valedictorian with the class of 1934. She continued her education with the Commercial Extension Group.
She married Howard T. Freeze on July 31, 1938 in Julesburg, Colo. The couple moved to North Platte where she loved being the caregiver of her family.
She belonged to the First Christian Church, she enjoyed her bowling leagues, the outdoors, camping and fishing.
Helga is survived by her children Butch (Karen) Freeze of Hershey, Neb., and Gerri Lou (Gary) McCandless of North Platte, Neb.; eight grandchildren Jeff (Jill) McCandless of Gothenburg, Neb., Troy (Korene) McCandless of Blair, Neb., Cody (Melanie) Freeze of North Platte, Neb., Leigh King of Roanoke, Va., Kim (Steve) Tatum of Lincoln, Neb., Kelly Wilnes of San Antonio, Texas, Tessa (Tom) Ficher of Blair, Neb., and Wendy (Clint) Bell of Woodlake, Neb.; great grandchildren Samantha (Josh) Thomas, Josef and Kyle McCandless, Jack and Callie McCandless, Andy and John Tatum, Josie, Macie, Cade and Jace Freeze, Taylor and Cory King, Forrest, Emeralde and Jake Weeth, Lyssa Micheel, Concho and Tanner Bell; and great great grandchildren Sadie, Selah, Scarlett, Cooper and Paisley.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Howard in 1994; son Jerry Freeze in 1943; daughter JuDee Wilnes in 1994; great grandson Seven; four sisters Ruth Ungles, Elsie Leonhardt, Grace McMichael and Bernice McMichael; and one brother Art Fransen.
Services were June 18, 2014, at the First Christian Church. Burial took place at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens.
