Leslie “Dale” Todd

Leslie “Dale” Todd, 70, of North Fork, Colo., passed away June 15, 2014, at the Delta County Memorial Hospital.

Leslie Dale Todd was born to Charlie J. and Johanna June (Carville) Todd on February 21, 1944 in Paonia, Colo.

He spent his childhood and attended public schools in Paonia, graduating from Paonia High School with the class of 1962.

Following high school, Dale honorably served his country with the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Dale enjoyed farming for many years. He also worked for IBM in Boulder for over 25 years. Among many interests, Dale enjoyed spending time outdoors whether he was fishing, hunting or camping. Above all, Dale was a devoted and loving father and grandfather.

Dale is survived by his father, Charlie Todd of Paonia, Colo.; one son, Jason Todd of Paonia, Colo.; two daughters, Kelly Todd of Aubrey, Texas; and Michelle Wells of Erie, Colo.; one brother, Chuck Todd of Crawford, Colo.; and two sisters, Sharon Omoore of Crawford, Colo.; and Laura Jean Brinkerhoff of Farmington, N.M.

He is further survived by five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Dale was preceded in death by his mother; and one brother, Russell Todd.

Curtis Russell Bains

Curtis Russell Bains, 97, of Hotchkiss, Colo., passed away peacefully June 6, 2014, at the Paonia Care and Rehabilitation Center in Paonia, Colo.

Curtis Russell Bains was born to Sam and Nellie (Bucy) Bains on August 24, 1916 in Oplin, Texas.

He spent his childhood and attended schools in Baird, Texas. Curtis moved to the North Fork area in 1973 coming from Sedalia, Colo.

Curtis, a retired welder and rancher, enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his ATV and raising horses, mules and cattle. olo.Curtis is survived by his former first wife, Velva Bains of Castle Rock, Colo.; former second wife, Ruth McDonough of Gunnison, Colo.; one son, Alton Bains of Hotchkiss, Colo.; and one daughter, Pat Hayden of Castle Rock, Colo. Curtis is further survived by his grandson, Cameron Hayden of Santa Rosa, Calif.

Curtis was preceded in death by his parents; and seven brothers and sisters.

A memorial service celebrating Curtis’ life was held June 21, 2014, at the Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Hotchkiss, Colo. A private family graveside was held at Riverside Cemetery in Hotchkiss.
