Judith Kathleen Brown Wilson

Judith Kathleen Brown Wilson of Powderhorn, Colo., passed away peacefully July 14, 2014, at her home.

She was born April 10, 1942, to Lloyd Brown and Adell Gibson Brown.

She married Wendell A. Wilson May 31, 1962. They made their home on the family ranch in Powderhorn, Colo.

Judy was postmaster of Powderhorn 34 years from 1970 until she retired in 2005.

Judy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a wonderful person who will be missed by all who know her.

She was mother to Terrie Kathleen Garrett of Federal Heights, Colo., and Donald of Loma, Colo.; grandmother to Heather Kathleen (Nathan) Scavezze of Commerce City, Colo., Brandi Garrett of Powderhorn, Colo., and Alyson Garrett of Boulder, Colo.; and great-grandmother to Avery Scavezze.

No service will be held per Judy’s request.

Nellie J. Chaffee

Nellie Jane Chaffee, 90, of Delta, Colo., passed away July 29, 2014 at Colorow Care Center in Olathe, Colo.

Nellie Jane McMann was born August 26, 1923, at Grand Haven, Mich., to James and Florence (Sullivan) McMann.

Nellie married Arthur V. Chaffee on July 22, 1966, at Spring Lake, Mich. Together they celebrated over 44 years of marriage until Art’s death in 2010.

Nellie had lived in Delta, Colo., for 29 years.

She was a dog groomer and kennel owner for most of her life. She was an accomplished horsewoman. Her life was devoted to animals and served as a 4-H leader for many years. Nellie was very active in community events and organizations over the years. She enjoyed cooking and was known for her whiskey dogs and hearty hogwash.

Nellie is survived by her niece; Sandi Walters and two cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and her husband Arthur Chaffee.

A memorial will be held on September 20, 2014, at Grand Haven, Mich., to honor and celebrate Nellie’s life.
