Gladys M. Sandoval
Gladys M. Sandoval, 94, of Delta, Colo., passed away on August 11, 2014, at Willow Care Center in Delta, Colo.
Gladys M. Martinez was born to Elimin and Carmilta Martinez on March 15, 1920 in Park View, New Mexico.
She spent her childhood and attended schools in Chama, New Mexico.
On October 15, 1938, Gladys married the love of her life, Frank A. Sandoval in Chama, New Mexico. To this union, five children were born. The Sandoval’s moved to Delta in 1950 coming from Grand Junction. The couple had the honor of celebrating their 51st wedding anniversary before Frank’s passing on Sept. 22, 1990.
Gladys, a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great great grandmother, enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, canning and cooking for her family and close friends who came to visit her. She also loved her flowers and tending to her garden.
Gladys was a faithful member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church.
Gladys is survived by three daughters and their husbands: Lorraine (Randy) Crespin of Delta, Colo.; Linda (Abe) Sanchez of Montrose, Colo.; and Cordey (Warf) Richard of Delta, Colo.; one son and his wife, Benny (Agnes) Sandoval of Grand Junction, Colo.; one brother, Joe Martinez of Grand Junction, Colo.; and one sister, Mary Martinez of Espanola, N.M. Gladys is further survived by nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 12 great great grandchildren.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank; daughter, Teresa; brother, Fermon Martinez; and a sister, Margaret Felix.
Services were held August 15, 2014. Burial followed at Mesa View Cemetery.

Dean Galen Sharpe
Dean Galen Sharpe, 77, of Grand Junction, Colo., passed away August 16, 2014, at La Villa Grande Care Center.
He was born to Leslie and Hazel Gilmore-Sharpe in Montrose, Colo., on December 7, 1936.
Dean graduated from Grand Junction High.
He married Kathy Frank, June 8, 1957, in Grand Junction, Colo.
Dean was employed by Public Service Co. (Excel Energy) for 31 years. He met and maintained many lifelong relationships throughout his association with Public Service Co., he was known to many family and friends as Galen, while his Public Service friends called him Dean.
Dean enjoyed camping, fishing, trap shooting, and was a loyal Denver Broncos fan who rarely missed watching a game. He was dedicated to his only grandchild and hardly missed his grandson’s baseball and football games.
Surviving Dean is his son, Gordon; daughter-in-law, Cena, and grandson, Trevor, all of Grand Junction, Colo.; sisters-in-law, Mary Ellen (Bob) Plute of Paonia, Colo.; Joann (Paul) Wells of Grand Junction, Colo.; Mary Lou Sharpe of Grand Junction, Colo., and Irene Frank of Union City, Calif. He was a special dad and grandfather to Mike, Rita, Travis, and Hailey Hiett of Santa Clara, Calif., and Michael Galloway of Norfolk, Va.; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Kathy; his parents, and one brother, Gary.
Services were held August 21, 2014, at Callahan-Edfast in Grand Junction, Colo., with burial at Calvary Cemetery on Orchard Mesa. ❖
