Frances Elaine Neiman
Frances Elaine Neiman, 90, of North Platte, Neb., Passed away November 30, 2013, at the Sutherland Care Center.
Frances was born February 14, 1923, to August Jacob and Clara Camille Pick Kotschwar at Curtis, Neb., where she grew up. She graduated from high school there in 1941.
On September 11, 1942, Frances married Jon Leroy Neiman in Benkleman, Neb., and they lived on the Neiman Homestead south of Curtis then moved to a farm north of McCook, Neb. In December 1959 they bought a ranch near Thedford, Neb., where they ranched until they moved to North Platte late in 2007.
Frances was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Eastern Star in McCook. She was also a member of the Thedford Art Guild and a local lady’s club for many years. Frances was an artist and a published poet who had received many awards for her poetry.
She was a fabulous cook, an avid reader and loved gardening. She also raised lambs, goats and sheep. Frances liked to sew and made her own clothes. She was a good wife and mother and was very close to her in-laws.
She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Mardee Neiman of Lakewood, Colo., and Carol Jean (Terry) Lewis of Las Vegas, Nev.; seven grandchildren, Jon “Jack” (Kristi) Neiman, Jr., Jamie (Mike) McCreary, Troy (Christy) Neiman, Tegwin Egle, Trampas (Talli) Kluender, Christopher (Christina) Lewis and Jacob Lewis; seven great-grandchildren, Melissa, Matthew, Michael, Garrett, Aiden, Claire Rose and Jack; and other family.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Jon; a son, Jon “Jack”, Sr.; her parents, August and Clara Kotschwar; five brothers, Gerald, August “A.J.”, Harold, Esley and Richard Kotschwar; a grandson, Joseph Neiman; and two great-grandchildren, Kristin Neiman and Baby Neiman.
Graveside funeral service was held December 6, 2013, in Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook, Neb.

Richard Cecil Oltman
Richard Cecil Oltman, 85, of Lincoln, Neb., passed away November 28, 2013, in Lincoln.
Richard was born September 9, 1928 on a farm northwest of Cortland, Neb., to George and Sophia (Drewes) Oltman.
Richard married Freda Coates on June 13, 1948.
Richard farmed in the Cortland area until 1963 when he and his family moved to Friend, Neb. He farmed and lived south of Friend until he moved to Lincoln in 1994.
Richard is survived by his wife of 65 years, Freda; daughters and sons-in-law Barbara and Lowell Redler of Dakota Dunes, S.D., Sandra and Randall Petersen of Lincoln, Neb.; sons and daughters-in-law Roger and Cheri (Grieser) Oltman of Lincoln, Neb., Steve and Dixie (Davis) Oltman of Utica, Neb., Darrell and Sara (Yound) Oltman of Lincoln, Neb.; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by parents, George and Sophia Oltman; step-sisters Evelyn Zimmerman & Elsie Lienemann; brothers Harlin, Harold, Clarence and Leland; sisters Lorene Oltman and LaVerna Ragsdale; grandson Daniel Oltman; daughter-in-law Karen (Hunke) Oltman.
Funeral services were held December 2, 2013, at Faith Lutheran Church in Lincoln, Neb. Burial took place at Evergreen Cemetery in Beatrice, Neb.
