Ellen E. Orth

Ellen E. Orth, 90, of Fort Morgan, Colo., passed away December 11, 2013.

She was born July 6, 1923, in Akron, Colo., to Charles and Florence Cummins.

Ellen married Albert Orth on November 6, 1948, in Scottsbluff, Neb.

She was a member of the San Arroyo Club, and the Colorado Cattlemen’s Association. She loved working on the family ranch. She also enjoyed traveling, cooking, and gardening.

Survivors include her two daughters, Janet Schneider of Windsor, Colo., and Joan Brock, and her husband James of Claremore, Okla.; four grandchildren, Adrianne Bostic and her husband, Shane, Brian Schneider, Jennifer Harsh, and Jami Olsen, and her husband Jonathan; and five great grandchildren, Kaycee, Brady, and Emerson Bostic; Grace and Judah Haller.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters, Lois and Opal; two brothers, Wayne and Melvin; and her parents.

Services were held December 27, 2013, at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan. Interment followed in the Brush Memorial Cemetery. ❖

Shane William Kramer

Shane William Kramer, 53, passed away December 20, 2013.

He was born to Robert and JoAnn Kramer on November 22, 1960.

He attended the Fort Lupton Schools and graduated in 1979. He was a graduate of the Phoenix Institute of Technology.

He married Barbara Lyrain Davies on May 21, 1982.

He was employed by Longmont Turkey Farms and then by Amoco/British Petroleum until he retired in 2011. He was recently employed by Rousch.

He is survived by his parents, his wife Barbara and his sons Brandon (Karin) and Cory (Magi), his grandchildren Jeannene, Kolby, Devin, and Isaiah, his brother Jeff (Missy), and his nieces and nephews, also aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Services were held December 29, 2013. ❖

Billie Louise Stuehm

Billie Louise Stuehm, 79, of Ault, Colo., passed away December 18, 2013, at Life Care Center of Greeley.

She was born December 25, 1933, in Sterling, Colo., to Clifford and Merle (Ballinger) Sherwin.

She married Dennis Eugene Stuehm September 6, 1953 in Sterling. He died July 31, 2013.

Billie grew up and was educated in Sterling, Colo. After graduating from Sterling High School, she attended Colorado State University in Ft. Collins where she received a bachelor’s degree in Education. She taught physical education at Highland Elementary School in Ault, Colo., and retired from teaching in 1982. Billie also worked alongside her husband at their 1,000 acre farm and feedlot in Ault, where they ran 7,000 head of cattle. She and her husband farmed and operated their cattle feeding business together until 2002.

She was a member of Highland Community Church in Ault, Colo.

She had a lifelong love of horses and enjoyed riding on their farm. She also took pleasure in scrapbooking and tending her garden.

Billie is survived by two daughters, Ramona Stuehm (Dan Baum) of Helena, Mont., Tammy Killip (Jay) of Pierce, Colo., a son, Lowell Stuehm (Carlotta) of Nunn, Colo.; sister, Judy Andersen (Bob) of Ft. Collins, Colo.; three granddaughters, Tyne Killip, Erin Stuehm, and Lora Stuehm of Nunn, Colo., and two grandsons, Kyle Stuehm, and Colby Killip of Pierce, Colo.

Services were held December 23, 2013 at First United Methodist Church of Pierce, Colo.

Loyd A. Musgrave

Loyd A. Musgrave, 100, of Fort Morgan, Colo., passed away December 20, 2013, at Valley View Villa Nursing Home.

He was born March 6, 1913, in Danberry, Neb., to Thomas and Lena Musgrave.

Loyd graduated from FMHS in 1930. He attended elementary and middle school at the Mountain View School in Adams County. Following graduation he attended the CMTC military training school at Fort Logan, Colo. Shortly after completing that school Loyd moved back to the area and began farming with his Father. In 1936 he worked with the WPA program helping to build bridges on Highway 36.

He farmed North of Shamrock, and in 1938 moved near Hoyt where he continued to farm most of his life.

On May 27, 1938, Loyd married Phyllis Curry at Adena, Colo.

Loyd was very involved in the communities where he lived. He was one of the original members of the North Kiowa BijouWater District and served as its secretary for over 40 years. He drilled his first irrigation well on his property in 1945. On his farming operation, he planted pinto beans, alfalfa, sugar beets, barley, and irrigated and dry land wheat. He was a 4-H leader in the Hoyt and Big Antelope 4-H Club and had served as a counselor at the 4-H Camps. He grew up attending the American Sunday School Union Church at Mt. View School. He was a member of the Adena Chapel, and then the Hoyt Sunday School, where he was a founder and board member and remained active for over 70 years. At various times he was also a member of the Home Presbyterian Church, the United Presbyterian Church and the Wiggins Community Church. He also served as a counselor at the Presbyterian Church Camp at Allenspark when his boys were growing up. He served as a board member briefly for both the Wiggins Co-Op , and the Hoyt Community Center.

Survivors include his wife of 75 years, Phyllis; two sons, Jerard of Wiggins, Colo., and Larry of Byers, Colo.; one Foster Brother, Wilber Roper of Citrus Heights, Calif.; six grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by six brothers, two sisters, three sisters, 1one foster brother, and his parents.

Services were held December 28, 2013, at the Wiggins Community Church. Interment followed in the Hoyt Cemetery.
