Earl grew up on the ranch near Ingalls, Kan., graduating from Ingalls High School in 1935. In 1935 during the great depression and dirt storms, it was unsafe to put the school busses on the road and the last six weeks of school were called off. During their married life, Earl and Perle farmed for a short while in western Kansas, but moved to Burlington, Colo., in 1943 where they purchased a farm and ranch. They moved to Matheson, Colo., in 1945 where they continued ranching and farming. They later moved to Delta, Colo., in 1954 where Earl opened a real estate office. Earl wanted to get back into farming and moved to Limon, Colo., in 1959.
Earl ranched and opened another real estate office which he operated until 1970 when he moved back to western Colorado, moving to Grand Junction, Colo., for a few years before moving to Cedaredge, Colo., where he opened another real estate office for six years before retiring.
Earl lived in Cedaredge, Colo., until 1996 when he moved to Grand Junction, Colo., where he resided until his death. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Grand Junction.
