Ruth Brown, passed away Monday, October 20, 2008, at Mantey Heights Care Center in Grand Junction, Colorado. She was eighty-five years of age.
Moina “Ruth” Brown was born to James Franklin Cornwell and Cynthia Ann Shelton on September 29, 1923, in Byers, Texas. She moved to Cedaredge, Colorado, in 1969.
Ruth was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of the Grand Mesa Southern Baptist Church in Cedaredge for many years. She also was a member of the Alberta Rebecca Lodge #106. Ruth loved her family and enjoyed needlework.
Ruth is survived by one son, Joe Brown of Missouri Valley, IA; and one daughter, Mary Kuhns of Grand Junction, CO. Ruth is further survived by seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, James Brown; one son, Jimmy Williams; and her parents, James and Cynthia Cornwell.
Jonathan “Joe” BigTree Noland of Paonia, Colorado died November 7, 2008 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado. He was 54 years of age.
Joe was born July 5, 1954 in Syracuse, New York, to Chief Leo Joseph Nolan and Gladys Nolan. He spent his childhood growing up on the Onondaga Indian Reservation. Before joining the U.S. Army after graduating high school, Joe worked with his Father.
While stationed at Fort Hunter Liggette in Jolan, California, Joe met the love of his lifetime, Jana. They married on October 10, 1979 in Ft. Greeley, Alaska. After 23 years of marriage they divorced, but remained best friends through ups and downs of their life. Jana was the love of his life as he was hers for the remainder of 6 years of his life.
Joe and his family moved to Olathe, Colorado, where he worked for Louisiana Pacific for 6 years, after moving to Paonia, he worked for Mid Continent and Oxbow mines. Joe liked to watch sports and spend time with his family and friends.
Jonathan (Joe) leaves behind his Best Friend, Jana and six sons whom he was very proud of, Terry & Christin Frasier of Lakewood, CO, Tracy Frasier of Montrose, CO, Don & Keli Frasier of Grand Junction, CO, Jonathan (Joe) & Lillie Nolan, Jr. of Paonia, CO Jesse Nolan of Grand Junction, CO and Darren Nolan of Montrose, CO. One brother, Joseph Leo Nolan, one sister, Cindy Nolan, twelve grandchildren and a host of family and friends that loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a nephew, Garrett and a daughter-in-law, Ruth Frasier.
We will all miss him and feel blessed for having him in our lives.
Josephine Christine Johnston passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2008, at her home. She was 62 years of age.
Josephine was born on July 28, 1946, to Joseph Piekunka and Madline Jean DeBounty in San Diego, CA.
She spent her childhood in Lemon Grove; Ca She graduated with the class of 1964 from Monte Vista High School in Lemon Grove, CA.
Josephine was married to David Chelberg he preceded her in death on September 6, 2004 at Missoula, MT.
Josephine enjoyed doing crafts like sewing and beading. In the spring, she tended to her garden. Her time was spent joyfully with her beloved dogs and pets.
Josephine also enjoyed keeping in touch with family and friends. She had a strong internal faith in God and lived by the words written on her heart.
Those grateful to have shared in Josephine’s life included her son: Joseph C. James and his wife Rie of Hemet, CA two daughters Shanda L. Koppe of Titusville FL. And Shelley R. Guinter and she husband Kelly of Paonia, CO. She will also be messed by her brother Michael Dacey of Redmond, WA. Two sisters; Charlotte McDonald and her husband Dennis of San Diego, CA. Mary Askenazi and her husband Adi of Redmond, WA. She also has six grandchildren that shared the love that she had to give.
Alice Joy (Jo) O’Donnell passed away at home on November 15, 2008. Alice was born in Denver, Colorado on November 21, 1936 to Roy E. McRee and Ruth E. Pennington McRee. She graduated from Idaho Springs High School in 1954.
Alice worked for her father at his LP Gas business in her early years. She retired as Clerk of the Court for Delta Combined Court in 1993. Alice traveled with People to People to China in 1988 as a representative of National Association of Court Clerks, and was thrilled to be able to walk on the Wall of China. Alice was selected by the Colorado Supreme Court as Court Clerk of Colorado in 1990.
Alice loved to golf, enjoyed reading, knitting, music and spending time with her children and grand-children.
She married her high school sweetheart, Edward J. O’Donnell on June 25, 1959. Alice was blessed with two children, Jeffrey and Lori, three grandchildren, Justin, Danielle and Amanda.
Jo is survived by her husband, Edward, of Delta, one son, Jeffrey O’Donnell of Cedaredge, CO, one daughter, Lori & Rob Sharon of Grand Junction, CO. Grandson; Justin and Mandie Granzella of Grand Junction, CO., granddaughter Danielle Sharon of Grand Junction, CO and granddaughter; Amanda O’Donnell of Wellington, CO. Two sisters, Mary & Emmet McKenzie of Greeley, CO and Margaret & William Jones of Eagle, CO and one brother; Thomas & Debbie of Salt Lake City, Utah.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
