Western Dairy announces new Bronco representative

Western Dairy Association

Western Dairy Association announced Denver Broncos tight end Virgil Green replaced David Bruton, Jr. as the Denver Broncos Fuel Up to Play 60 player representative.

Fuel Up to Play 60 is an in-school program that empowers youth to take action to improve nutrition and physical activity at their schools and for their own health. As the new player representative, Green will be encouraging participating schools throughout the region to make positive changes that increase opportunities to be physically active and inspire them to choose tasty, nutrient-dense foods — which include low-fat and fat-free milk and milk products, fruits, vegetables and whole grains.

The program is dairy farmer-funded, so in addition to his exceptional work ethic and his ability to inspire youth to make healthy choices, Green’s obvious interest in the dairy community makes him the perfect person to represent Fuel Up to Play 60. Given Green’s reputation for being hardworking and thorough, Green began his tenure as the Fuel Up to Play 60 spokesperson by touring a dairy farm.

“Everything was so meticulous and in the proper place — things are done just right,” Green said, describing a dairy farm in Ault Colo. “It was great to be a part of the whole thing. I’d actually like to go again and check out more — I want to go the behind the scenes and see everything.”

Bruton — who recently accepted an offer to play in Washington — served as the Denver Broncos Fuel Up to Play 60 player representative for two years. He was a huge supporter of dairy farmers and a great role model for Fuel Up to Play 60 students. He believes Green is an excellent choice for the new player representative.

“It’s clear that he should be the advocate for Fuel Up to Play 60 and dairy farmers,” Bruton said of Green. “For someone who drinks as much milk as he does, it just makes sense.”

Though the dairy farm families of Western Dairy Association are sad to see Bruton go, they are excited to have Green on board and know he will do a great job representing the program and will positively influence their communities.

“We are thrilled that Virgil Green is partnering with us in the Fuel Up To Play 60 Program. Western Dairy Association has represented dairy farmers for 80 years, and we take special pride in serving our community by supplying wholesome and nutritious milk,” said Cindy French, President and CEO of Western Dairy Association. “Virgil has a track record of serving the community as well, particularly in schools. I can’t wait to start working with Virgil and I’m sure he will leave a lasting and positive impact on our children and families.” ❖
