Jamie Beard

Jamie Beard, 68, of Paonia, Colo., passed away June 19, 2013.

He was born on June 15, 1945, in Raton, N.M., and raised there by his parents, Millard and LaBelle Walton. Jamie attended school in Raton. After graduating from Raton High School, he went on to obtain his degree in electronics from DeVry University.

Jamie celebrated his 67th birthday by retiring from his position of maintenance superintendant at Oxbow Mining in June 2012.

He enjoyed motorcycles, pool, darts, playing computer Yahtzee with his wife, and game nights with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Beard of Paonia, Colo.; his mother, Labelle Walton of Raton, N.M.; a son and his wife, James and Patti Atchley, Jr. of Cedaredge, Colo.; three daughters, Tausha Beard and her husband Frank Martinez Cuello of San Diego, Calif., Tabitha and her husband Chris Madrid of Greeley, Colo., and Michella Atchley of Paonia, Colo.; and one sister, Mary Jo Armijo of Raton N.M.; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Tracy L. Mattern-Wingfield

Tracy L. Mattern-Wingfield, 42, of Paonia, Colo., passed away June 16, 2013, at her residence in Paonia, Colo.

She was born on March 3, 2013, to Melvin Ray and Rose Marie (Tafoya) Mattern in Delta, Colo. She grew up in Paonia, Colo. and graduated from Hotchkiss High School in 1989.

Tracy enjoyed fishing camping, horse-back riding and jet-skiing. She loved the outdoors and was very competitive in activities.

She is survived by her father, Melvin Mattern of Rifle, Colo.; her mother, Rose Mattern of Paonia, Colo.; spouse, Adam Taylor; two daughters, Kasandra Lynn Horvath and spouse, Seth and Kayla Nicole Wingfield, all of Paonia, Colo.; a brother, Shane Mattern of San Antonio, Texas, and a sister, Nicole Rogers and spouse, John of Kempner, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Hilah and Vern Mattern, and Alfonso and Hijinia Tafoya.

Services were held June 22, 2013, at the American Legion Hall in Paonia, Colo.
