2010 Colorado’s Touchstone Energy Cooperatives Junior Livestock Sale

Colorado State Fair

The annual Colorado’s Touchstone Energy Cooperatives Junior Livestock Sale at the Colorado State Fair is the largest event of its kind in Colorado and the championship event for the state’s 4-H and FFA youth. According to preliminary totals, the 2010 sale accumulated approximately $359,675 from the state’s most dedicated bidders.

“The Colorado’s Touchstone Energy Cooperatives Junior Livestock Sale is the culmination of hard work and dedication by Colorado’s youth exhibitors. It is always a wonderful experience to see these very generous buying groups support today’s youth,” stated General Manager Chris Wiseman.

The sale is instrumental in supporting the future of Colorado’s agribusiness as it demonstrates to youth the importance of raising quality livestock and the work required of those who pursue careers in agriculture. All proceeds from the sale go directly to the education funds of the youth exhibitors. In 2009, the sale drew in $350,500.

“Animal agriculture plays a vital role in all our lives and the participants at the Colorado State Fair’s livestock shows are on the road to becoming important contributors to tomorrow’s agricultural industry,” continued Wiseman.
