2011 Pulitzer winning photographs on display at The Durham Museum
Omaha, Neb. – The Durham Museum is pleased to announce that the 2011 Pulitzer Prize photographs are on display beginning June 8. These provocative images will be added to Capture the Moment: The Pulitzer Prize Photographs on exhibit through July 10, 2011.
Carol Guzy, a photographer from The Washington Post, became the first journalist to win four Pulitzer Prizes. Ms. Guzy and two other Post photographers, Nikki Kahn and Ricky Carioti, won in the category of breaking news for their depiction of the devastation from the earthquake in Haiti. In the featured photography category, Barbara Davidson from the Los Angeles Times, won for her photographs of innocent victims of deadly gang violence in Los Angeles. Several photos from their submission will be on display.
Capture the Moment: The Pulitzer Prize Photographs is a temporary exhibition created by the Newsuem and Cyma Rubin. Of the millions of photographs in newspapers each year, only two Pulitzer photography prizes are given – one for breaking news and the other for feature photography. Capture the Moment includes the winning images from 1942, the year of the first photography award, to present day.
