3 Colorado counties picked for rural broadband study
Connect Colorado is collecting data needed to build maps of broadband service availability in rural areas of the state and three Colorado counties have been picked for a pilot study area for the Connect Colorado Project.
Many areas of the state that lack broadband coverage are also impacted by energy development projects. So Weld, Garfield and Las Animas counties have been selected for the pilot project that is intended to validate the service availability information being collected from providers, and to spur increased broadband deployment and adoption in energy-impacted areas.
The data collected will focus attention on the three counties and catalyze efforts by private sector providers to respond to the demand for and interest in the broadband.
The survey must be completed by Oct. 15. It is available at http://www.connectcolorado.org/pilotstudy.
