4-H Club News 1-11-10
The Elbert Creekside 4-H Meeting of Jan. 3, 2010 was called to order at 3:16 p.m., by our Club President Colten Rohleder. The Pledge of Allegiance and 4-H Pledge were said. Travis Cayou our Club Secretary was not present at this meeting, so Kort Henderson our Club Vice President called the attendance. Thirty-one 4-H members were present at the meeting and 17 were absent. We welcomed two new families, the Cabreras and the Lindseys. We did not get a Secretary’s Report since Travis was absent. McKenna Henderson, Club Treasurer gave the Treasurer’s Report, and then Kort gave a Youth Council’s Report. He didn’t bring that much information, but did share that the Youth Council made cards for wounded soldiers who had just returned home for battle. So we all thank them for doing that. He also shared that he had been elected the Alternate Boy Senator for the County, so congratulations to Kort!
We celebrated January birthdays for Colten Rohleder, Kort Henderson, Cody Rosburg, Jacob Patrick and Ben Duke. We also handed out cards to those who hadn’t been at the previous meeting. Ben Duke, our fabulous leader, handed out project books and materials for the New Year. Our club will be holding the Cloverbud Camp on February 25, at 6 p.m., in the Ag Building. Mrs. Boleng and Mrs. Patrick will be helping some of our older members teach the Cloverbuds about cake decorating.
Ben announced that the Henderson family will be showing in numerous classes at the National Western Stock Show. We all wished them good luck!
There are only two New Family Orientations left, so to all you new families please pick a date to attend, either January 13, or February 11, at 7 p.m., in the Ag Building. There also will be a Cloverbud Meeting on January 28, at 6 p.m., in the Ag Building. There will be the annual Contest Day on March 13, at Elizabeth Middle School, so please step out of your comfort zone and show us what you’ve got, or at least plan to attend and support the other performers. If you dance, sing, or perform in any way just call the Extension Office and they will get you set up.
Just a reminder for Creekside 4-Hers to bring your pictures to next meeting so that we can make Valentine’s Day cards for the kids at Denver’s Children Hospital.
The business meeting was adjourned at 3:42 p.m. We had one presentation from Hayden Stout and she told us about the recent Dare to Be You Camp. For those of you who went, I hope you had a blast; and, for those of you who haven’t gone, I definitely recommend it. This camp is a blast.
Our next meeting will be February 7, 2010 at 3 p.m., in the Elbert Christian Church.
Happy New Year and hope to see you all at the National Western Stock Show!
