Advanced Cropping School for dry bean producers planned Aug. 18-19
The University of Nebraska Panhandle Research and Extension Center at Scottsbluff will host an in-depth, field-oriented, hands-on workshop in August aimed at teaching participants about management of dry bean production, including the diagnosis of production problems in western Nebraska and the High Plains.
The two-day school is designed especially for people who work in the dry bean crop production industry, organizers say. The school will place special emphasis on stress-related problems that can cause yield reduction. Instructors will include UNL specialists and educators.
The deadline for early registration is Aug. 5.
The 2011 High Plains Advanced Cropping School for Dry Beans is scheduled for Aug. 18-19 at the Panhandle Research and Extension Center, 4502 Avenue I. Sessions will start at 9 a.m. each day. To register, visit the Panhandle Center’s website at panhandle.unl.edu and download a brochure, or call the Panhandle Center at (308) 632-1260.
Completion of the workshop will earn participants Nebraska CCA (Certified Crop Advisor) credits.
The registration fee of $180 per person includes reference materials, a hand lens, a cap, lunch on both days, supper on Aug. 18, and break refreshments. Completed registration forms and fees must be received by Aug. 5. After that date, registrations will be accepted if space is available and the fee will be higher.
