Barn Media 10-20: Nebraska Ag Council Formed & Nebraska Ag Organizations Displeased With the Agreement

Two unlikely foes are teaming up in Nebraska to advance more humane livestock practices and create a new market for producers that follow those standards. The Humane Society of the United States has joined the Nebraska Farmers Union to announce the formation of an advisory body, the Nebraska Agriculture Council of The Humane Society of the United States. Farmers Union President John Hansen says this is an effort to avoid an expensive ballot initiative and create a new marketing opportunity for producers that adhere to certain animal welfare standards. The group We Support Agriculture does not support the partnership. We Support Agriculture Spokesperson Pete McClymont says agriculture has nothing in common with animal rights groups like HSUS.
