Beginning Farmer Course offered March 31

A class for new and beginning farmers is being offered to people in the eastern Wyoming and western Nebraska. Classes will be held Thursday evenings beginning March 31 in Torrington, Wyo.
The Challenge Group beginning farmer class is a series of four evening sessions which will cover:
– Assessing and evaluating your resources
– Business visioning and planning
– How, when and where to market your products
– Keeping the right records and profitability assessment

– Working together as a family and business
Each of the sessions will include perspective on starting and developing a farm or ranch and hands-on work to help you focus your interests. Sessions will begin at 6 p.m. and last until about 7:15. The registration fee of $25 per farm and covers all expenses.
The class will be an opportunity to connect with other people interested in food production while learning skills to start off right. The series will conclude with a tour of class participants farms. Practical consulting sessions based on your needs and interests will be available after the class.
