Bent-Prowers Cattlemen plan upcoming events
The Bent-Prowers Cattlemen approved funding for area youth winners and beef promotion during its board meeting Aug. 17 in La Junta, Colo.
The board, which represents a five-county region, approved $300 for the Southeast Colorado Cattlewomen’s beef promotion program. It also formally approved its annual recognition of youth winners by awarding $50 to each breeding beef grand champion in the Baca, Bent, Kiowa and Prowers county fairs and the Arkansas Valley Fair.
The board reviewed Colorado Cattlemen’s Association (CCA) upcoming events to be held in conjunction with the “Cattlemen’s Day” at the Colorado State Fair in Pueblo. On Aug. 30, the schedule will include open CCA committee meetings, a reception prior to the supreme champion bull’s selection, and the ranch rodeo. Members are encouraged to participate.
The board’s next meeting, which will include nominees for Commercial Cattlemen of the Year and Seedstock Producer of the Year, is set for Sept. 21 in Lamar.
