The Canadian government and the Agricultural Coalition for USMCA, a trilateral group, both called Tuesday for the continuation of the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement on trade.
Canada-U.S. Trade Minister Dominic LeBlanc wrote to Trade Representative Jamieson Greer and requested that the deal be renewed for another 16 years, calling the agreement “highly beneficial” to all three countries, a day before he is scheduled to meet with Greer in Washington.
“Together, we can compete globally, drawing on the incredible resources and people that make up our integrated economic space,” LeBlanc wrote.
“Our organizations are deeply reliant on trade, and our closest neighbors are the strongest trading partners for North American agriculture and its continued success,” the agriculture groups wrote to the three ministers. The letter from the ag groups was released by the National Corn Growers Association.
