CCA Legislative Lunch Jan. 23 at State Capitol

Colorado Cattlemen's Association

Each year at the beginning of the legislative session, the Colorado Cattlemen’s Association (CCA) welcomes its members to Denver for a day of legislative action, including a Capitol tour, a legislative briefing, and a luncheon with current legislators. This year’s legislative event will be Wednesday, Jan. 23.

“This is an opportunity for Colorado producers to find out what is on the legislative table; and to visit with the elected officials who have the ability to help, or harm our businesses,” said Kenny Rogers, CCA President.

The Capitol visit and lunch provide an excellent opportunity for members to meet one-on-one with their senators and representatives about issues they face on a daily basis.

“It is imperative that we remind legislators that beef is a viable piece to Colorado’s economic stability,” Rogers added.

As in the past, CCA is encouraging members to take this opportunity to invite your local legislators to lunch. It is open for all elected officials, and each is sent an invitation from the CCA office. “Nothing beats a personal invite, so I am encouraging all members to call their legislators, and invite them to lunch!”, Rogers said.

CCA members can call the CCA office at (303)431-6422 to get contact information for their local legislators, or to register for the Legislative Lunch. The registration deadline is Jan. 17, and the lunch is $20.

Coinciding with the Legislative Lunch, CCA members attending this event usually move on to the National Western Stock Show to attend CCA’s Producer’s Show. It will be held in conjunction with the NWSS, along with the Carload Commercial Heifer Sale and the Bellringer Select Commercial Female Sale. The CCA Producer Show and Sale showcase some of the best cattle in Colorado. The winner of the Producer Show will receive a sterling silver champion belt buckle.
