Dr. Roberts is nationally known for his research and educational programming in grains and energy markets. He will address some of the new techniques that will better allow you to manage risk in these sectors in the future.

Commissioner Stulp will discuss how the Colorado Department of Agriculture views the state of Colorado Agriculture and how their office is working on issues related to agriculture.

What Cropping Alternatives are Available to a Farm with Limited Water Resouces by Dr. James Pritchett, Associate Professor & Agribusiness Ext. Specialist, CSU-Ft. Collins, Colorado
This presentation examines how farming with limited water resources impacts the overall performance, risk profiles, and equity of an operation. A focus of the presentation will be the demonstration of a spreadsheet tool that may be used to compare various limited irrigation strategies.

Chip will present 3 key questions that producers must ask themselves when deciding what is right for their operation. He will discuss how those questions and answers are interdependent to producers when defining a profitable direction to head.

Tools for Assessing and Managing Value by Dr. Mark Enns, Assistant Professor, CSU Dept. Animal Sciences-Ft. Collins, CO
Dr. Enns will outline the current tools available to assess and manage the value of your beef cow herd. The primary focus will be on using genetic improvement to improve herd value and profitability of a cow/calf operation. In addition, he will introduce tools on the near horizon that will influence profitability through the feedlot and on to the consumer.

Terry will review current day challenges and speculate what opportunities will be offered for future generations of beef producers.

Blake will take a comprehensive look at the growing demand for Natural meat by today’s consumers and discuss how producers can position their operations to participate in programs like Meyer Natural Angus and capture the additional value that exists in the marketplace today.

Swift and the Impact of Foreign Ownership on Colorado and the Beef Industry by Erin Daley, Manager of Research & Analysis, US Meat Export Federation-Denver, Colorado
Global beef demand will continue to grow through trade, which translates into carcass maximization and increased profitability for U.S. beef producers. Brazil, the largest beef exporter in the world, primarily exports low-cost, grass-fed beef to Russia, Europe, and the Middle East while high quality, grain-fed U.S. beef chuck cuts are preferred in Asia.

Current Equine Health Concerns by Dr. Joe Sticklin, Veterinarian- Greeley, Colorado
Dr. Sticklin will discuss what should you should watch for when caring for your horse with emphasis on equine dental care and the most common lameness issues. He will look at the pros and cons of the use of power tools for dentistry as well as the newer types of equipment used in the diagnosis of lameness.

Wound Management Considerations and Actions for the Horse Owner by Dr. Amy Barnes, Equine Surgeon, Countryside Large Animal Clinic-Greeley
All horses, in time, will experience some type of soft tissue wound. Dr. Barnes will discuss several common wounds and how they are treated. She will explain the steps involved in the wound healing process, how each step can be assisted or hindered depending on the circumstances, and how proper action from start to finish will reward the horse owner with the most desirable outcome.

Colic: From Prevention to Correction through A Surgeons Point of View by Dr. Amy Barnes, Equine Surgeon, Countryside Large Animal Clinic
Dr. Barnes will cover the many factors that affect colic in horses. She will cover the anatomy and the common problems associated with the way the horse is made. Dr. Barnes will also answer the many questions about the surgical and medical correction of colic.
