Country Treasures Market Place
Starting the first Saturday in May through October, from 8 a.m.-2 p.m., vendors will be set up in front of Country Treasures at 604 Main Street in Wiley, Colo. Country Treasures is an antique shop located between Eads Colorado and Lamar Colorado on U.S. 287.
The vendors will be set up and down the tree lined sidewalk in front of Country Treasures. There is plenty of good parking on both sides of the street. Just look for the big yellow sign that says Country Treasures and the many vendors.
Some of the things you will find are jewelry, bling purses, antiques, collectibles, candles, home decor, lots of hand mades, health and nutrients products and yard sale items. The vendor fees for setting up will be given to Mary and Martha Ministries. This organization helps people that need food and clothing.
Mary and Martha was started in 2001 as a way to help the people in their congregation who were having a hard time making ends meet. It did not take long before others where coming in and asking for help. Now they have over 1,000 families that the ministries have helped out in the last 18 months. Betty Parks is in charge of Mary and Martha Ministries along with many volunteers who help sort and organize the clothing and food and prepare the food boxes. They give out between 120 and 160 boxes of food a week. This organization is run by all volunteers who come from different churches and groups from all over the area.
They help people in five counties who are having a hard time making ends meet and need help. They do not ask questions and anyone is welcome. They do not turn anyone away from their door that needs food or clothing. A lot of these people only come in one time, others come in often.
If you are needing help you can come by on Mondays from noon-2 p.m. or on Thursday from 6-7:30 p.m. If you need to contact them please call (719) 336-8898. Mary and Martha is located on the corner across from the Lamar High School on Savage Ave and 11th street at the Life Center Church.
Right now, the Mary and Martha program is in need of baby formula and baby food, but please check the dates on these, as they cannot be out dated. They also need baby diapers of different sizes. They need personal hygiene items for both women and men. Mary and Martha needs these things along with the non perishable food items. You can drop your donations off at Life Center Church or you can bring them by Country Treasures the first Saturday of every month during the Market Place.
Be sure to sign up for the drawing when you leave your donation which will be greatly appreciated by Mary and Martha Ministries.
