CSU’s Twilight Garden Series

Gardeners of any ability can learn from professionals during the annual Twilight Garden Series, a series of programs on a variety of gardening topics, with an emphasis on practical information and an informal format.

The series, consisting, two-hour workshops, will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on June 17, and July 1. The workshops on July 1, will be held at the Colorado State University Plant Environmental Research Center at 630 W. Lake Street on the southwest side of campus. The June 17, workshop will be held at The Gardens on Spring Creek, at 2145 South Centre Avenue in Fort Collins. Reservations are not necessary.

The workshops on Tuesday, June 17, will cover xeric choices with “Meet the Natives, Not all Natives are Xeric” presented by Phil Phelan of Bath Nursery and Garden Center; “Xeric Tree and Shrub Choices” covered by Ken Kawamura with The City of Windsor; and “Winter Hardy Succulents” discussed by Gwen Kelaidis.



On July 1, the workshops will focus on general landscape care. “Organic Lawn Care” will be discussed by Tony Koski, a professor in Colorado State’s Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture; “Tree Care” will be presented by Josh Fine of Fine Tree Service; and Michell Provoznik of Fort Collins Gardens on Spring Creek will cover “Perennial Division and Care.”

This series is sponsored by Colorado State’s Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture, Colorado State Extension and the City of Fort Collins’ Horticulture Program.



Admission is $5 for a single event or $10 for the entire series; pre-registration is not required. Refreshments, snacks and door prizes will be given. Workshops are held outdoors, rain or shine, so participants are asked to dress appropriately for unpredictable weather.
