Deadline July 17 to report planted acreage
The United States Department of Agriculture through the Boulder County Farm Service Agency announces that the deadline to report your planted crop acreage for crop year 2006 is July 17.
The timely filing of an accurate acreage report for all crops and land uses, including failed acreage and prevented planting is a requirement to be eligible for benefits in a number of programs, including Direct and Counter-cyclical Payment Program (DCP), Conservation Reserve Program (CRP), Non-Insured Crop Disaster Assistance Program (NAP) and Loan Deficiency Payments (LDP) and Marketing Assistance Loans (MAL.) Non-participating farmers should consider reporting to establish and maintain the planting history on the farm which may be used to establish base calculations, etc., for future programs.
To set up an appointment for your crop reporting requirement, please contact the office at (303) 776-1242. This office administers the program for both Boulder and Jefferson Counties.
Start a dialogue, stay on topic and be civil.

As cold temperatures arrive, be happy if you received snow recently. Although snow can create some problems, snow is good — for alfalfa and new irrigated grass seedings that were planted late last summer.
