Elks Little Britches Rodeo had contestants from six states

We had 126 contestants from six states; Colorado, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming making 334 runs each day at the Little Britches Rodeo in Torrington, Wyo. Following the rodeo performance on Saturday, the Elks Lodge fed 170 contestants, friends and family a wonderful chicken fried steak dinner. Sunday morning we started the day with Cowboy Church officiated by RW and Becky Moyer from the Fellowship of Christian Cowboys Assn. We had somewhere around 700 to 1,000 spectators enjoying the show on Saturday. Even with the chilly Sunday weather, we still hosted over 500 spectators throughout the day.

Over $9,000 in cash and prizes were awarded with the daily division All-Around Winners receiving monogrammed sweatshirts. Lit’l Wranglers – (Sat & Sun) Haiden Thompson of Whitney, Neb., Jr. Girls – (Sat & Sun) Rickie Engesser of Spearfish, S.D., Jr. Boys – (Sat) Tyler Fiscus of Bayard, Neb. & (Sun) Rance Johnson of Philip, S.D., Sr. Girls – (Sat) Jamie Thompson of Whitney, Neb., & (Sun) Kaitlin Peterson of Sturgis, S.D., Sr. Boys – (Sat) Carl Dennett of Wray, Colo. & (Sun) Caden Packer of Sturgis, S.D.

A beautiful DC Designs buckle was awarded to the five division All-Around winners over the two days and monogrammed rope bags sponsored by Purina and Z & W Mills were awarded to the Reserve All Around winners. Winning the Lit’l Wranglers buckle, sponsored by Farm Credit Services of America, Haiden Thompson of Whitney, Neb. The Reserve All-Around winner was Raegan Delancey of Cheyenne, Wyo. The Jr. Girls buckle, sponsored by Scoop & Pat McGuire, was won by Rickie Engesser of Spearfish, S.D., and the Reserve All-Around was Jacey Thompson of Whitney, Neb. The Jr. Boys All-Around buckle winner, sponsored by Platte Valley Livestock, was won by Rance Johnson of Philip, S.D. and the reserve Jace Engesser of Spearfish, S.D. The Sr. Girls All-Around buckle winner, sponsored by Ed & Vicky Stovall, was Shai Schaefer of Torrington, Wyo. and the reserve was Kaitlin Peterson of Sturgis, S.D. The Sr. Boys All-Around buckle winner, sponsored by Garrett & Kristie Smith, was Caden Packer of Sturgis, S.D. and the reserve was David Hinman of Hay Springs, Neb.

The Torrington Elks Little Britches Rodeo committee paid out money to 1st through 5th with gift certificates for bags of grain donated by Panhandle Co-Op and Hubbard Feeds for 1st through 3rd. Sixth place girls won a bucket combination sponsored in part by Carol Erickson & Murdoch’s and the boys received Wyoming Caps. Seventh place winners were awarded t-shirts sponsored by the 110 area sponsors of our 2nd Annual Torrington Elks Little Britches Rodeo.

We also received 10 bags of grain donated by Murdoch’s of Scottsbluff that we drew as door prizes from the contestants. We also gave away 10 crisp $20 bills from an anonymous donor along with many other door prizes collected from throughout the community. The Elks Lodge in Sheridan supported our rodeo by donating a gift certificate good for one entry and stalls into the Sheridan Elks Youth Rodeo. The gift certificate was won by Madelyn Chambers of Ft. Lupton, Colo.

A great big thanks goes out to all the businesses and individuals that donated towards our 2nd Annual Torrington Elks Little Britches Rodeo and to the Goshen County Tourism Joint Powers Board. Without your generous support, our function would never be an successful as it was.
