(3) 6.5 oz. cans chopped clams

1/2 gal. milk

1/2 c. flour

salt & pepper

1 Tbsp. minced garlic

3/4 stick butter

4 med. potatoes, diced

1 med. onion, diced

6 slices bacon, crumbled

In large pot, pour in milk and salt to taste. Heat on low. Meanwhile, melt butter in large skillet. Add potatoes, onions and garlic. Cook until done. Add clams (including juice) and let simmer while preparing milk. When milk is hot, slowly sprinkle in flour a little at a time. Whisk to remove any lumps. Cook milk at med/low temp. until slightly thickened. Add clam mixture to milk. Pepper to taste. Let cook at low temp. while frying bacon. Crumble bacon into chowder and serve. Hint: The longer you cook chowder, the better the flavors come out.
