Gateway Farm Expo planned Nov. 17-18

KEARNEY, Neb. – The Gateway Farm Expo set for Nov. 17-18, 2010, in the new Buffalo County Exposition Center is expected to be the largest ever for the show.

More than 300 exhibits are scheduled to be at the event to be held on the Buffalo County Fairgrounds. Doors for the Gateway Farm Expo open at 9 a.m. both days and run through 6 p.m. on Nov. 17 and 5 p.m. on Nov. 18.

The free event showcases cutting edge technology in agriculture as well as innovative products and services.

Craig Buescher, humorist, motivational speaker and president of the Nebraska AgRelations Council will be the keynote speaker on Nov. 17. Craig, a farmer himself who has raised four children, will encourage farmers to share their experiences with the next generation in agriculture. Craig will take a humorous look at how sharing experiences will have a positive effect on the next generation.

Mark Edge, water utilization leader for Monsanto, will be the speaker on Nov. 18. Edge is the lead for the commercial introduction of Monsanto’s biotech corn drought trait and the development of commercial business related to water management issues. Edge will share information on new tools available for water management.

The event is free and open to the public.

“We are thrilled to be the first event hosted in the new Exposition Center,” said Show Chair Sara Rector. “The new large building and state-of-the art facility will make the Gateway Farm Expo even more exciting for our show.

“And with harvest well underway and completed in some areas, we’re expecting our 41st year of the Gateway Farm Expo to draw our largest crowd ever, ” Rector said.

The University of Nebraska at Kearney Nebraskats will perform during the lunch hour on Nov. 17. Hannah Robbins of rural Buffalo County will perform during the lunch hour on Nov. 18.
