In a Sow’s Ear 8-23-10

I just returned from the annual Montana Cowboy Poetry Gathering where the stories, poems and pickin’ fell around like hail stones in spring. Lots of horse, cattle, dog, cowboy and ranch tales, some funny, some nostalgic, some melancholic. One of the cowgal poets, Dena Fritz, presented a hilarious skunk poem complete with actions of how she coat-hangered the varmint from under some steps. Her story reminded me of a polecat problem several years back which my spouse solved with offhand style and a rifle.
