Lincoln hosts 2010 WPRA Finals Oct. 13-17

Lincoln, Neb., is hosting the Women’s Professional Rodeo Finals Oct. 13-17, 2010. The WPRA Finals will be held at the Lancaster Events Center. Contestants from across the country will be competing for over $80,000 in prize money.

Three arenas will be in use during the event – a barrel racing arena, roping arena and sale arena. This is the first year that the WPRA Finals will feature a Select Barrel Horse Sale managed by the Going Big Time Sales Company.

Events in the barrel racing arena include: $20,000 Race for WPRA Card Holders Only, $2500 Gold Card Race (for contestants over 50), $10,000 Permit Holders Race (1st year members working to earn their card), $13,500 Futurity for horses 5 years of age and younger, $5,000 added Derby for horses that are 6 years old, $5,000 added Youth (riders 18 and under), and 4D jackpots with $2,500 added. In the roping arena women will compete in tie down roping, breakaway roping and team roping all with added money.

The top 30 in each event will qualify for the final go round which is scheduled for Sunday, October 17th.

The competition looks to be very tough. It is quite an honor for this event to be moved to Nebraska. In years past the finals have typically been held in Texas and Oklahoma. The finals were held in Tulsa, OK, in 2009.

A few contestants from Nebraska that will be competing are June Holeman, Michelle Stobbe, Lorie Wendell, and Rachael Reichenberg along with many others in the barrel racing. In the roping arena expect to see GinaLee Tierney, Brandi Mueller and Jesse Johnson just to name a few.
