Mad Jack Hanks: Tales from the O-NO Ranch 7-4-11

First of all, gentle readers, how can it be July 4th already? Are you kidding me, we just got through with winter about two weeks ago!

I digress. How can a wise guy and a wise man be two totally different things? How can a barn burn up and burn down all at the same time? Don’t know! It’s like see and sea and know and no and not and knot – they sound the same but mean different things? Makes it all interesting doesn’t it when you stop and think about how some things work in our language and how we perceive things to be.

Let me get to the real meat (meet) of this column since we celebrate this wonderful country of ours. Will it be ours for long? I saw recently where the U.S. soccer team played the team from Mexico here in the U.S. The American team won. Yeah!! Good goin’ guys. NO? Old Glory was booed as well as the guys on OUR team. Are you kiddin’ me Charlie Brown? We played a world class soccer match here in OUR country and were booed by folks living here in OUR country and OUR flag was booed as well.

Well, I gotta’ tell ya children, that made ole Mad Jack really MAD! How can that be that folks living in this country and being given all the benefits of what this country offers up and a good part of it being FREE, and they hate us for who we are?

First of all, we are a loving, giving society or they wouldn’t be here in the first place. I see T.V. ads on almost every noon news cast where all sorts of animals are being offered up for adoption. Right? How many times do you see a child without a mom or a dad featured on T.V. for adoption? Not to often I can tell ya and there are literally hundreds and hundreds of those little ones that need a family and someone to love and care for them. Now before some of you get on my case about the little puppies with big sad eyes and the little kittens with fluffy fur and sad little faces that desperately need a home, don’t start! I have the best dog in the world living here and he was adopted from the animal shelter. Point being, where are our priorities in this good ole U.S. of A? It should be that children are featured every noon newscast for adoption and let the dogs and cats take the back seat to these precious little ones.

How can it be that we seem to get so many things so wrong as we stumble through life? I suppose it’s because we are human and we are to tender at times when we need to be double tough on issues that will affect us all in due time.

I also see where one state is going to request that folks on the public dole be required to take a mandatory drug test before they get your and my money to live on. Hooray!

That’s what I’m talkin’ about. They got it right. God bless them for taking a stand for tax payers rights. I wish every state would require that folks on public assistance have to be drug tested before they get squat from me and you.

That’s enough, gentle readers, I’m done for this column. A-MER-I-CAN, I CAN AND SO CAN YOU! Let’s get it right and get it done!

Stay tuned, check yer cinch on occasion and I’ll c. ya’ll, all ya’ll!
