Mad Jack Hanks: Tales from the O-NO Ranch 8-8-11

At this writing, gentle readers, Cheyenne Frontier Days just finished up yesterday. That’s always a clue for me that it’s possible that our weather could change in the very near future.

Last year we had an extended Indian Summer and my hopes are for the same this year as well. Folks on motorcycles have begun the pilgrimage to Sturgis for the annual bike rally. They will have, if I’m not mistaken, around 700,000 bikers in that area. I had passing thoughts of maybe joining in all the melee but I always let common sense prevail and stay home yet another year.

Man, how time flies. We had such a late summer and it’s dwindling down purty fast time wise. School is only a hop, skip and a jump away for most kids by the time you read this. Their summer fun will be a thing of the past. I had a number of things I wanted to get done this summer and I’ll accomplish most of what I had planned to do.

My granddaughter Kailee came out this morning and helped me finish up some painting I needed to get done before we made our way into winter. Grandkids are so neat to have around. I am so lucky to have such wonderful grandkids. Problem is … they just grow up too doggone fast.

Time flies in most cases. In some cases it apparently doesn’t. About the time I write this those bozos in Washington are voting on the debt ceiling legislation. As most of you might agree it should have never ever reached the point where the folks that are responsible for spending our hard earned monies wind up acting like a bunch of 4-year-olds.

I got so frustrated while all the demagoguing, backbiting, partisan bickering, whining, and just plain lack of being responsible and acting like adults, while I watched the “telly,” I thought I would lose my sanity. How in the world did our present government ever evolve to a bunch of pacifier sucking, knuckle dragging, idiots.

For the good folks that stood their ground and for those that actually have concern for you and I and this country, God bless ‘um! Thanks to the freshmen TEA Party folks, you done as good as you could have under the circumstances. Time was not on our side when all this mess was going on. I believe in the future that this type of politics just will not be tolerated. I’m tired, you are tired of sending out money so it can be wasted or stuffed into somebody’s influential pocket.

It’s time for me to move on and get some more chores done around here before it gets too hot. I tell ya children, at my age time really does fly!!

Stay tuned, check yer cinch on occasion and I’ll c y’all, all y’all.

To read the cow

To read a cow, for you gentle readers that might not know, is to forecast what you believe she is about to do. She may do it to you or for you. Will this particular…
