Murphey concert to benefit SE Colo. farmers

A benefit concert featuring Michael Martin Murphey and friends will be held Sunday, March 18, at the Colorado State Fairgrounds in Pueblo. Proceeds from “Operation: Blizzard Benefit” will aid in disaster relief for farmers and ranchers in Southeastern Colorado who were affected by the recent blizzard.

“We are proud to have Colorado’s major ag organizations coming together for a great cause that will provide some much needed assistance to Southeast Colorado farmers and ranchers,” said Alan Foutz, Colorado Farm Bureau president.

The concert event is being presented by the Colorado Farm Bureau, in conjunction with the Colorado Cattlemen’s Association, Colorado Livestock Association and the Colorado Department of Agriculture – State Fair. Sponsors of the event aim to raise at least $500,000 to assist livestock producers impacted by the blizzard. Corporate sponsorship is also being sought for assistance.

Having a music legend like Michael Martin Murphey come to Pueblo will hopefully bring even more light to the issues our farmers and ranchers are facing right now,” said State Fair General Manager Chris Wiseman. “A great musician will be performing for a great cause; I hope everyone comes out to have a good time and to help those in need in our state. The Colorado State Fair is proud to be a part of this event.”

The event will take place at the Event Center in Pueblo with a start time of 7:30 p.m.

Tickets go on sale Saturday, Feb. 3, and can be purchased at the Colorado State Fair box office and all Ticketmaster ticket centers including Foley’s and the Official Visitors Center at 1600 California St., Angelo’s CD’s & More and Tower Records.
