My Favorite Recipes for 12-29

3/4 c. Shortening

1 c. Brown sugar

1 Egg

1/2 c. Applesauce

2-1/4 c. Flour, sifted

1/2 t. Baking soda

1/2 t. Salt

3/4 t. Cinnamon

1/4 t. Ground cloves

1 c. Raisins

1/2 c. Walnuts, chopped

Topping:

1/4 c. Sugar

1 t. Cinnamon

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Combine shortening, brown sugar and egg then stir well.

Stir in applesauce.

Combine dry ingredients and add to shortening mixture then stir well.

Fold in raisins and nuts.

Drop by teaspoonfuls onto a greased baking sheet.

For topping, combine sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl and sprinkle over cookies.

Bake for 10-12 minutes.

While cookies are warm press down slightly to create a crinkly appearance.

Makes approximately 32 cookies.
