Nebraska State Fair hay bale winners announced

First place - Central Nebraska Humane Society.

LINCOLN, Neb. – The three winners of the 2010 Nebraska State Fair Hay Bale Decorating Contest were a dog, a tractor and a Ferris wheel.

First place went to the Central Nebraska Humane Society and its “Grand Arf-fair.” Hall County 4-H Junior Leaders took second place with “John Deere Tractor,” and third place went to Case IH’s “Ferris Wheel,” said Rhonda Veleba, who headed up the Can Do Committee for the contest.

There are 10 hay bales around the city and 10 more on the State Fair grounds in Grand Island, Neb.. The hay bales can be found at the southeast corner of the Conestoga Mall, Harley-Davidson Central, Stuhr Museum, Pump and Pantry on Highway 281 and Capital Avenue, Greenline Equipment on West Highway 30, CNH, Trucks N More on East Highway 30, Barr Middle School, Tiffany Square on Faidley Avenue and Principle Financial on North Webb Road.

The Nebraska State Fair runs Aug. 27 to Sept. 6, 2010. The State Fair is celebrating 141 years of agriculture and entertaining families. The purpose of the Nebraska State Fair is to educate and entertain, recognize individual achievements, celebrate excellences in agriculture, industry, commerce, arts, sciences and technology, and reinforce sense of community and shared culture for the citizens of Nebraska.
