Northern Colorado Draft Horse Assoc. free draft horse open house
It is time for our annual fall draft horse open house! Come meet members of the Northern Colorado Draft Horse Association and other draft horse enthusiasts. Join us on Sunday, October 16, 2011 at Mountain View Stables, 2100 S. E. Frontage Road, I-25 just south of Prospect in Ft. Collins, Colo., at 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
See several different breeds of draft horses; we expect to have black and grey Percherons, grey and black Shires, Belgians, Clydesdales, and crossbred drafts. Experience hands on activities such as: grooming, harnessing, and driving. There will be opportunities to visit with a mare and foal, ride a draft horse, and learn about what it takes to keep and work draft horses. This is a free public education event so bring your entire family. Draft horse owners will answer your questions, give free wagon rides, and guide you as you learn about these gentle giants. There will also be information on where to find lessons, carriage and wagon rentals, and breeders with horses for sale.
We’d also like everyone to know that you can join the Northern Chapter of the Colorado State Draft Horse Association with or without horses – we love to have folks join us and share in working our horses and planning future events.
This event is gaining popularity so we recommend coming before 2 p.m., as we will be ending at 3, and there is so much to see and do. Plenty of parking in the pasture, and the Collegiate Horseman’s Association fundraising committee will be selling food. For more information (or potential wheelchair accommodations) please call (970) 217-3173 or email email@example.com. v
