Joseph Henry Kalcevic, age 65, of Brighton, Colo., went to be with the Lord on Oct. 28, 2008. He was under the care of his loving family and devoted wife before being reunited with his loved ones and friends.

He was born to Yugoslavian immigrant parents, John G. and Judy (Drobnitch) Kalcevic, on Sept. 7, 1943, and worked on the family farm until he entered into military service with the Colorado Air National Guard in 1964.

Joe married Gloria J. “Jean” Mcmillen in 1964. To this union, two children were born: Ron J. Kalcevic and Ricky J. Kalcevic.

He later served in the Vietnam war, ending his military service in 1977 as a jet aircraft mechanic.

Joe earned his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Northern Colorado, and taught numerous high school courses throughout rural Colorado. He would eventually end his working career back on the family farm with his beloved brothers, Johnny and Jim Kalcevic, and his wonderful Uncle Joe.

Joseph was a kind and gentle person who loved spending time with family and friends. He was loved and adored by all who knew him and was an inspiration to his sons. It was often said that there wasn’t a person that he didn’t know or a warm smile that he kept to himself. Joe will be missed, but never forgotten.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanne, of Brighton; sons Ron of Littleton, Colo., and Rick and wife Deborah of Commerce City, Colo.; one granddaughter, Emily Kalcevic of Brighton, and other beloved family members. He is also survived by his brothers, John and wife Diane, and Jim and wife Marlene, all of Bennett, Colo.

Services were held on Nov. 3 at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Interment followed at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Wheatridge, Colo.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the Joseph Kalcevic Memorial Fund in care of Valley Bank and Trust, 4900 E. Bromley Lane, Brighton, Colo., 80601.
