Jerry R. Codner, 52, of Wood River died Nov. 22, 2009, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney as the result of an automobile accident.

He was born on Feb. 27, 1957, in Grand Island, the son of Robert and Luetta (Dubbs) Codner. He grew up in the Wood River area, graduating from Wood River High School in 1976. After High School he helped farm near Wood River.

He married Vicki Mead on Dec. 3, 1977, in Wood River. The couple lived in Wood River and Bassett, before returning to Wood River.

He married Diane True on March 10, 2000, in Grand Island. The couple lived in Wood River.

He worked for Cargill before working for Greg Gewecke for two years. He then returned to Cargill where he has worked until the time of his death.

He enjoyed fishing, horses, dancing and especially being with his family and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Diane of Wood River; son, Travis (Sharon) Codner of Wood River; stepson, Shawn (Jessica) McKimmey of Ashby; four stepdaughters, Chris Rice of Dunning, Debra (Trent) Reiner of Lincoln, Sharon (Trent) Eickhoff of Lincoln, and Tracy Borgman of Boelus; granddaughter, Jessica Codner of Wood River; 16 step grandchildren; one step great grandson; one brother, Doug (Karen) Codner of Wood River.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Donald Codner; one sister, Elaine Thompson, and one grandson.
