Helen L. Tobiasson, 83, of North Platte, died Dec. 11, 2009, at Presbyterian St. Luke’s Hospital in Denver, Colo.

She was born Sept. 9, 1926, in Dickens, Neb., to James and Lucinda M. (Strawder) Campbell. She grew up around the Dickens, Wallace area, and graduated from North Platte High School.

She married Donald Tobiasson on Aug. 3, 1946, in North Platte. They moved back to the family farm south of North Platte and have lived there ever since.

She was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother and a wonderful homemaker. She enjoyed watching songbirds and Prairie chickens with Don, cooking, canning, gardening, baking and sharing cookies and coffee with family and friends. She belonged to TOPS and was a past state officer; she was on the election board, and belonged to several extension clubs.

Survivors include her husband, Donald; four sons, Gary (Char) of Salt Lake City, Utah, Ronald (Randa) of North Platte, Martie (Dottie) of Chadron, and Mark (Leisa) of Hershey; two brothers Dennis (Caro) of North Platte, and Pete (Lynn) Campbell of Springfield, Ore.; sister, Delores Sykes of Grant; 10 grandchildren, Chad (Jessica) Tobiasson of Dolores, Colo., Amy (John) Picray of Monticello, Iowa, Brian (Misty) Tobiasson, Julie (Brian) Newland all of North Platte, Trent (Cammie) Tobiasson of Hayes Springs, Nate Cain of Omaha, Troy Tobiasson of Laramie, Wyo., and Travis, Trisha and Tara Tobiasson of Hershey; 14 great-grandchildren, Brooke and Wade Picray, Hunter, Jens and True Tobiasson, Mason and Zane Newland, Nathan, Ashley, Taden and Tanner Tobiasson, Lillie, Lizzie and Trace Tobiasson, as well as many other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Lawrence, Bill and Max Campbell; and granddaughter, Jodi Tobiasson Cain.
