Rocky Mountain Obituaries 1-12: Albert E. Hodgson; William Patrick "Packy" Flynn; Willard George Markham;Owen James "O.J." McDougal Jr.; Alfred J. "Alf" Linnebur

Albert E. Hodgson, age 93, of Livermore, Colo., died Dec. 29, 2008, at the Garden Square Assisted Living Center at Westlake in Greeley, Colo.

He was born on Feb. 25, 1915, to Earl and Lillie Hodgson in Boulder, Colo. He graduated from the eighth grade at Davidson School.

On Oct. 3, 1937, he married Annie Linnea Benson in Boulder, Colo. The couple dairy farmed until 1959. He and his family then moved to a ranch in Virginia Dale, Colo. They remained there until 1985, when Albert and Linnea moved to a smaller ranch that was closer to town in Owl Canyon, Colo.

Albert was a member of Larimer County Stockgrowers Association, and the Livermore Community Church.

He took great pride in just being a common, hard working rancher. He never wanted to be better than others, but wanted to make sure he paid his own way. Growing up through the Depression taught hard lessons that were never forgotten. Branding times, moving cattle across country, and hunting were all special to him, as he did them with his family.

Albert is survived by one son, Albert Lee and wife Beverly; one daughter, Linda A. and her husband Fred; 10 grandchildren: Denny Hodgson and wife Debbi, Conni and husband Jack O’Brien, Sheri and husband Tony Maxwell, Mark Hodgson and wife Marla, Tammy and husband Mike Meisner, Freddy Fangmeier and wife Debbie, Sandy and husband John Rethage, Ginger and husband Rich Schmidt, Sonia and husband Scott Rogers, and Tonia and husband Shane Teeter; and 18 great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by one sister, Mildred Galloway; and one sister-in-law, Cleora Hodgson.

Albert was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Linnea; daughter Evelyn Jo Walker; son-in-law Bill Walker; three infant children; his twin sister, Alberta Bell; a brother, Lester Hodgson, and his parents.

Funeral services were held Dec. 2 in Fort Collins, Colo. Interment took place at the Virginia Dale Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the Hospice Unit at Mountain Valley Health Care, 1180 W. Main Street, Suite 9, Windsor, Colo., 80550, Attn: Cindy.
